If the Flyers really want Gaudreau, I want every good player on that team. Voracek, Provorov and Giroux. Maybe throw in a 1st.

I don't think they would, but I take the best assets and see if I can flip them. Provorov could potentially net you a return from another team like Forsberg for all you know, and Sanheim could net you a Boeser. It's a Seth Jones type situation.

If for some reason the goal is to get Gaudreau playing close to home, I don't think the trade has to restrict itself to the Flyers. I think the Devils, Rangers and Isles are definitely in the conversation too as both are within driving distance. Even DC is not that far away (think Calgary to Edmonton). I'm sure Mrs. Gaudreau would take Boston too if she had to.
There's enough there that I think you'd have a pretty big feeding frenzy.
Hopefully it's only a realistic topic of conversation a decade from now.

I can't think of any team in Gaudreau's home area that has enough to offer us as a replacement for Johnny. He's as close to a generational talent as you can get ... I wouldn't trade him for anyone not named McDavid... Or a couple of first overall pics... He's one of the most exciting players in the league... Not going anywhere anytime soon I hope!

Enjoying the podcast, as any hockey talk is welcome in the summer, but too much Kerr. He tends to dominate the conversation, but doesn't say much that is interesting.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Maybe, but I kind of like how is really two people with more intimate knowledge of the team just shooting the breeze. Kerr goes off on tangents because he's used to filling radio time. For podcasts I don't like the "show format" as opposed to the conversation with loose structure

Yeah, I don't have a problem with the format, it is more with Kerr as a speaker/radio personality. Just not a fan. My impression is that he tries to stake some ground, addresses the counter-argument and then proceeds to agree more with the counter-argument than the original position, leaving a jumbled mess of incoherent ideas.
For example on the podcast, he accuses Haynes of recency bias. Potentially a fair point, but he uses Tuulola as the example. Haynes had him 18 on his list. Explained that he was intrigued by his talent and that he passed the eye test. Kerr agreed that he was intriguing and then never explained who should have been ahead of Tuulola on the list. Just a terrible argument by someone who appears not to have remembered what his original point was.

Yup. He plays Devils advocate on points he doesn't really agree with until the other host (Steinberg, Haynes) bites and plays the straight man explaining why his point was wrong, and he treats this common sense like a fascinating nugget of wisdom.

Now that the RSS feed is out, I finally got around to listening to episode 3 this morning.
As feedback, I didn't like how they started off talking about how they were trying to give Flames/hockey fans something to listen to over the summer instead of baseball; and then proceed to talk about baseball, how they met SOs and Boston pizza for the next 15 minutes. That's like 50% of my morning commute wasted.

Agreed. It seems like Darren starts out each podcast with about 10-15 minutes of small talk before getting into the hockey parts. Other than that loving them though!

Yeah, I do enjoy the rest of the podcast very much. It's just that I listen in my car so I am unable to skip past those bits. (I refuse to touch my phone while driving)

This last episode I found to be particularly insightful with a difference mentioned that's only just being brought up on CP.
With the team rolling now, they've been able to grind out those close game wins more often than I remember seeing against Hartley where it would be moreso of a miracle event each time it happened rather than a culmination of hard work eventually producing results. The Flames have been scored on first in three of the last four games, but we haven't seen any deflation. Instead the team has been incredibly steady in achieving little goals in order to produce from constant and simple forechecking and scoring by committee up until recently.
It's been a lot more basic hockey plays that have seen goals go in rather than the pretty tic tac cross slot goals but coupled with defensive responsibility and goaltending, this team has constantly looked to be in it to win every game, right to the end.

New episode is up.
but it's loubo, you been warned, it's a great window into his broadcast "style"
the guy is allergic to other voices, it's incredibly awkward, enjoy
