That's the artist's style, and trademark. If the goalies don't want that then they are free to go to a different artist. They ask this guy to paint their masks knowing full well how he does things.

That's 100% true, but popular doesn't mean good taste. How many affliction t-shirts did we see 5-6 years ago? Most goalies it seems don't put too much thought into their mask (some do) and just go with who's popular and what others are using.

DaveArt to me is just terrible, tacky, and overdone nonsense, but he certainly is successful so good for him.

I actually like this one. It doesn't strike me as garish or kitsch. I can agree that the colour is a little off, but I like the incorporation of a theme and the team identity. I like the tribute to his Texas Tornado playing days, and the word mark underneath is pretty cool. Dave Art makes a lot of abominable masks, but this isn't one of them.

It's pretty cool how he incorporated the word Stars, the logo and the state of Texas on the mask but it probably would have been better if he stayed away from the neon/tron lightning effect.
