I haven't had it in about 4-5 years but when I used to live within a 10 minute drive of it, I would get takeout there at least once a month. Pretty tasty and reasonably priced.

Okay at the risk of making this place more busy... Dragon's Lair Burger in Westbrook Mall. Where has this been all my life? I think it's the best burger I've ever had.

Might be the only redeemable quality of that mall.

I haven't had it in about 2 years. It was still decent, but not as reasonably priced.

Westbrook mall comes with it's own set of adventures. Is this in the food court?

Yep, the patronage of that mall is very Edmonton-like. But if you can wade through the sweatpants to make it to that burger place, it's well worth it.

Went to Manning so have lots of fond memories of that dingy ass food court. Is the My Donair still there? It was run by a very kind family back in the day.

Went to Carino Riserva a favorite of mine for the first time since New Years. Hasn't fallen off at all. Did $55 tasting menu which was 3 courses plus desert. Outstanding value.

Also did wine parings and I am not sure if it was an waiter accident or not but it was $25/ea for 4 glasses each (1 per course). Blew me away.

It was quiet on a Saturday so that was concerning. This is a fantastic restaurant, folks here should try it if they haven't yet.

Agree with this 100%. This restaurant deserves to be busy! Very outstanding. If you don't try the duck udon, you are seriously missing out.

On another note, Suzette has opened in Brittania plaza and the menu is looking unique and the restaurant is quite quaint.

Bar Von Der Fel on 1st is also pumping out delicious food.

Gave Casino Reserva a go on the weekend. I was expecting a little more Japanese fusion to be honest. But really good Italian, nonetheless.

We had a great meal at Ten Foot Henry:

I really liked the melon/cucumber/ham, peruvian chicken and coconut cake. The Bench 1775 Syrah (2014) from BC was quite good too.

You missed out not getting the butterscotch pudding for dessert. I'd go back just for that.

Found it to be pretty over-rated, much like the rest of the Ten Foot Henry experience. Everything was 'just ok'.

We took our kids to the spray park at Prairie Winds Park this afternoon. Afterwards, we stopped to pick up a family pack of their yummy samosas (and their chana masala, which is always included) at the Samosa Factory. We learned they are going to open up a new location in Beacon Hill soon. Great news as it means easier access to their samosas soon!

After a number of years hearing good things about it, my husband and I finally tried Alloy last night. We tend to favour tasting menus in higher end restaurants and pair them with wine - we did the same last night. Overall, we weren't impressed. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great. When we walked in, the smell of fish walloped us in the face (I'm not a fan of fish, so it wasn't a pleasant smell for me), we found that a bit odd. Within 15 mins, I coudln't smell it, not sure if we got used to it or what.

We ordered the tasting menu and asked to have it paired with wine. The server was friendly, butI don't know if she didn't know anything about the wine she was serving us or if she just didn't bother to tell us more. Our amuse bouche was served with an "Italian sparkling", our main with a "Spanish Rioja blend", dessert with an "Australian sweet wine" - nothing about the grapes, the vineyards, why they chose to pair it with the food, nothing. Overall, the food was good, but again, we weren't blown away. ( I did love the ahi tuna ceviche and considering I'm not a fan of fish normally, that really surprised me) So while nothing was bad, I felt it just wasn't worth what we paid. We have been to Q Haute three times and were blown away every time, this paled in comparison.

We're going to try "Anew Table" in a few weeks, hopefully it'll be a bit better.

I have kind of an odd request. I'm looking for restaurants like the ones in this thread, but they need to have high pub/bar type tables and stools (back issue). Pubs lack the food I'm interested in, I need less deep fried gluten. Any recommendations?
