Ya just looked like a slash that happens 10-20 times per game. Must have just hit him in awkward spot. No penalty on the play so he should get any games. How is it different from when guys get broken fingers from slashes?

In a way I don't blame Crosby. If the league is giving you special treatment, why not take advantage of it.

I'm certain he didn't mean to hack a guys goddam finger off, but he did deliberately mean to give him a heavy chop knowing he'd probably be let off and potentially gain an advantage for his team.

Did he even get a minor?

Wow and with the crowd so quiet the sound Methot makes when it happens (especially after seeing the aftermath) makes me cringe.

Will you feel the same way if/when the league's other golden child (McDavid) does the same thing to Gaudreau or Monahan?

Crosby - 0 games because he is f-ing Sidney Crosby
Methot - $5000 fine for feigning injuries

Make no mistake, special treatment pisses me off to no end.

But since the player obviously receives special treatment, can you blame him for using it?

Crosby gets special treatment alright.

He gets hacked and slashed and held and generally molested on a regular basis by guys with half his talent in an attempt to neutralize him.

Crosby didn't come into the league a nut punching, slashing, and fighting hooligan. He was Sidney Crysby, whining to the refs because they didn't make calls when he got mugged by lesser players.

The NHL created dirtbag Crosby because they don't protect their talent. We are talking about a guy that didn't fight in junior and didn't have a fight until his third NHL season.

Now obviously no NHL player should be getting away with this kind of behavior, but if the league cracks down on Crosby here, they need to recognize the root of this behavior and start calling the rulebook, even if its the third period, even if its OT in the playoffs.

Patrick Kane suffers a similar treatment. Do you see him pulling off **** like this?

I don't give a hoot how good of a player he is. No player is above the rulebook and that includes Crosby.

That looked like a pretty good hack to me. I disagree that it seemed pretty innocuous. Still, the end result is worse than you'd expect.

All your points are valid. Except then you create a guy that can not be touched or even looked at ala Mcdavid which is just as bad IMO.

The NHl needs to find a happy middle ground.

I know you make stupid post but this takes the cake. Gaudreau gets hacked and he had a factor but never smashed in and almost hacked off.

" It wasn't that bad " #### off.
There are two factors in injuries: power of slash, and positioning of slash. There's no need to raise the stakes by calling other people stupid - in this case, it's making you look bad because most people seem to agree with him more than they agree with you. It's a fairly typical slash that resulted in an atypical injury.

This statement contradicts itself.

Slashes in in general are against the rules. Juat because this one caused a atypical injury does not mean it is to be overlooked.
Give your head a shake. Slashimg is against the rules . just because they don't get called does not mean they are fair play.
This should not be a subjective call yet time and time again it is.

If it is. Subjective call then the instigator rule needs to be tossed out.
This was a slash malicious slash that needs to be dealt with.

He shattered his finger and there is physical evidence on TAPE that he almont took off his finger tip.

Stop protecting the Golden child and down playing it. This could happen on any given night. The NHL needs to nip this in the bud. It only took a player a player losing his finger tip to draw more attention to it.

T
Crosby nut shot a guy now this. Cmon the nhl didn't make Crosby a dirty player Crosby made Crosby a dirty player. He made the conscious decision.

Exactly. It's a missed penalty, nothing more.

A missed major penalty + game, per the rule book.

It's almost a shame this wasn't Methot blowing up Crosby's finger. Because while the NHL doesn't give a damn about Gaudreau, if the golden boy was put out for four weeks right before the playoffs, you can bet the league would take a very serious look at its policy of rewarding slashes to the hands with indifference.

The league has already shown us it doesn't care about slashing. It hasn't for years.
