I remember Healey from the development camp and he was pretty good for the walk on group. Don't think he'll be an NHL player other than maybe in a Deryk Engelland role, but things can change. Will have to see him again in July to see.

What is it you mean by hard minutes?

Don't not misunderstand, I love Engelland. Beating up 2 Canucks earned him every bit of that 10M that night, and a permanent place in my heart.
But mostly Engelland's minutes are hard because he can't get the puck out of the D zone.

What I mean by hard minutes is tough PK minutes in front of the net clearing traffic and one of the few d-men to actually throw his body around and also protect the crease. That is what I mean by hard minutes.

And I don't see him having an issue getting the puck out at all. He's usually really good at that.

Friedman on HNIC said the Flames beat out the Jets in getting Healey.

Man, the Jets seem to have a really tough time getting free agents to go to Winnipeg. That's got to be a bit frustrating for their fans and management.

Healy was interviewed on Sportsnet 960 during the Flames intermission. A couple of comments...
Quote:
Sportsnet 960 @Sportsnet960

Josh Healey: "It came down to Winnipeg & Calgary, and I fell in love with the idea of playing in Calgary." #Flames

Edmonton native Josh Healey: "I'm pretty pumped to be a Flame and now there's only one team for me in Alberta."

So, he's a smart college kid.

Love the optimism, Engelland is a very good 5-6 Dman not some scrub.

I agree. I see Engelland as Healey's upper end limit in terms of potential. More likely he'll be a filler tweener if he makes the NHL at all.

More or less replaces Sieloff in the prospect pool.

I like it! Possible Engelland replacement. Seems to be the end of Wotherspoon. Lots of talent coming in on the back end. Really impressive group.

Will be interesting if they go D at the draft, would really give the flames some amazing depth on D in the coming years

I'd probably take Foote if the Flames are picking in that 18-22 range.

Based on man games lost by skilled developing Pacific team prospects due to high quality collisions?

The question is, what do you mean by 'don't not misunderstand '?

Smart to keep his NHL guaranteed salary below the $925k amount. Makes it an easier to decision to have him up with the big club if the difference between other defensmen rookies is negligible.
