Funny that they include a minors salary for 17-18. He can't go to the minors. I assume if he goes to junior he's off the payroll completely, and the above just jumps forward a year..
He can still be assigned to the AHL after his WHL season is done. For example, if the Rockets didn't make the playoffs this time next year or get eliminated early in the playoffs, he can play in the AHL for the rest of the season at the prorated minor salary.

Yes.
I like that. These kids put so much into the game. Getting signed is a great payoff with those signing bonuses. No wonder some signed 18 year olds grab the tab in Penticton!

Pretty sure that just a default calculation by CapFriendly
From what I've seen, this guy will be an NHLer. If he has the puck skills to be a top six guy is to be determined, but he'll be an energy guy at minimum.
Very early, but that draft is looking pretty solid. Tkachuk is a stud and Dube, fox and parsons all heading in the right direction. Really liked Dube's game at the world juniors. He's had a solid season in the dub especially when he missed what the first month or so with an injury.

Goes on about Dube, Fox, Parsons, Tkachuk and forgets all about...
50 goals in 70 games this year. The 2016 draft could go down as a really special one for the Calgary Flames.

Technically he could if his junior team released their rights to him.
But they have no reason to do it.

Or if his WHL season had ended before the AHL playoffs, they would need to know what to pay him while with the AHL club for the remained for the regular season

Players from junior just sign AHL PTO contracts. I believe they do get their signing bonuses while in junior though, so that can be important to them.

Not if they have signed a SPC.This year was a tryout agreement, but that was because his contract has not yet started. Next year if he misses the playoffs with his WHL club he will be assigned to Stockton and be paid for the time he is there as per his SPC.
