It's a starter home, apparently (according to the builder) these homes are often finished ahead of schedule. We'll see what happens. Longer timeline just means I get to stay in Japan longer and I'm more than OK with that.

When my home is complete I'll post a thread on the schedule. The short version right now is we started excavating in November 2015. I don't see how I'll be in the house before June or July of this year. A guy I know started his excavation around the same time. He was in his laneway house in July 2016, and the regular house in September 2016. I wish you much more success on your timeline than I've had on mine.

I've dealt with builders who have built 6000 sq ft custom built homes in 9 months. It's possible but the builder has to be real good with managing the trades and timelines.

5 months for a cookie cutter home should be doable but with my experience with the type of builders who build those homes, good luck.
