Default Flyers and Wild Make a "Not-Minor-Trade"

Apparently this deserves its own thread, and I'm happy to oblige.

Philly sent Logan Brown to Minnesota for Andrei Vasilevski.

We really loved drafting Brown, but 30% of it was wishful thinking that the Flames would somehow draft him. Either way, we'll still be excited to follow his progress. The guy is super intriguing and looks to have a bright future.

We've been toying with the idea of trading one of Schneider or Allen for a few months now. I've been asking Grant about Vas for close to the same amount of time. With Stamkos signed, Bishop has to eventually go. That opens the door for the crazy Russian to take over #1 spot.

Vasilevski comes in, but is still not sure who he will back up right now.

We're still not sure who's leaving but one of them will likely be shopped for a top 6 winger.

To be continued...

Lots of risk for Philly here

Brown could turn into a star. Not sure what to make of Vasilevski yet... could be the future in Tampa or Las Vegas I suppose.

Didn't really want to carry 3 goalies again at the CPHL level. Anderson being traded from Anaheim means Gibson should be the #1 there, but that clarity isn't there yet for Vasilevski.
Brown wasn't a guy I loved heading into the draft - but it is the right value.

I personally like it for Philly more. Vasilevsky looked great in the Pittsburgh series and Bishop is injury prone with only a year left on his contract.

Brown is good but more of an unknown in my mind.

Brown could arguably have more value right now because he's a hot new prospect (blue steel anyone) but for me it's even with a slight advantage to Philly.

Put me in the camp thinking Vas is the real deal. Should be interesting to revisit this deal in a few years

You make this trade and the title isn't something like "Philly performs Vas-ectomy on Wild"? I'm not sure who the winner is, but the real losers here are the 26 other GMs!
