Anywho, yeah, I've seen both of them in person. Boedker is a dynamic scoring forward, while Brouwer is a third liner who puts up decent numbers. We need more Boedker than Brouwer.

Or Brouwer. Or David Jones for that matter.

Ew. Brouwer is much better than Jones, it's really not even close.

I was being facetious, but really, I'm not a fan of Brouwer. Especially at this inflated contract.
He'll be a buyout candidate by year three.

if I have to decide between Boedker and Brouwer at pretty similar cost, I'd take Brouwer every day ... and I actually like Boedker. But he's not a complete player and certainly not the kind of player the Flames needed. Brouwer is a MUCH better fit for Calgary.
and why are we talking about Davey Jones again? Can we please just forget him already?

Plus Boedker is a smaller player and a left winger. The Flames got a bigger more physical right hand shooting RWer. Seems like a no brainer by Treliving to go with Brouwer over Boedker.

He had a few game winners in the 2012 playoffs but otherwise I agree with this.
Glad he didn't take our offer end of last season. I think it was around $5.5-6

Boedker is so dynamic nobody was willing to give him more than 4m. He is fast and skilled, but also soft and one-dimensional. Brouwer is clearly a more valuable player.

Boedker wasn't coming to Calgary at that price. Bet the lure of San Jose/San Francisco, not to mention playing with last seasons Stanley Cup finalists(including lining up with Thornton, Marleau, Burns, Pavelski, Couture etc) helped lower his price. He sacrificed money to play with a contender, which makes sense. I think he'd have asked for way more $$$ to come here.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Also, doesn't Boedker have a bad history of concussions or am I thinking of someone else?

Brad gave out a bad contact to Troy. Boedker is worth significantly more than Brouwer, IMO.
I'd love to be wrong, though.

Says he wants Boedker over Brouwer and then compares Brouwer to Davis Jones lol.
You realize Brouwer was traded last season for TJ Oshie and Davis Jones was traded for a 6th round pick.
Not comparable players in the slightest, sheesh.

Good contract. Still rather have Brouwer.
Size - Brouwer
Goal Scoring - Brouwer
Grit - Brouwer
Board Play - Brouwer
Defence - Brouwer
Speed - Boedker
I really don't see how Boedker would help fill our weaknesses. Brouwer was exactly what we were missing.

Again: I was being facetious. But I just don't like the Brouwer signing at all. Brouwer and Jones aren't comparable, just as how Brouwer and Boedker are not.
And Devi: this is a league based off speed and skill. We're moving away from truculence. Boedker would save money, while playing more of a quick style. He would compliment Johnny and Mono much better, IMO.

I'm not convinced Brouwer isn't fast himself.
