As Brian Burke said at the Fan Forum on Monday: This season's success is thanks to four men: Brad Treliving, Bob Hartley, Mark Giordano, and Jay Feaster.

Credit where credit is due.

Totally agree! Jay was the GM and had the final call on every pick during his tenure. If his call was to trust his scouts and act on their recommendations, that's a credit to him, not a black mark as some like to claim.

Coaching staff as well - Thank you for not renewing Sutter as the head coach and getting the coaching staff that we have now! And that Gaudreau, it's like winning the NHL lottery 3 years in a row!

Always liked Jay Feaster the man. He just seems like a genuine nice guy. He definitely deserves credit for this season's success as he was part of the drafts and free agent signings that have paid off and hiring Hartley really did turn out to be the catalyst for this team's success.

I'd add a 5th - John Tortorella

Success in sports is like an iceberg: 90% of it is below the water line, where you can't see it. Treliving, Hartley, Giordano, and Feaster built the iceberg.
Tortorella was only the Titanic.

I wonder if Jay would make a good scout? Like did he watch any of these guys play or just listen to Button, Wisebrod etc? I think it would be generous to say he was mediocre at the managerial aspects of the GM but maybe he would make an awesome head scout?

I think Feaster was the business guy, and Wisebrod was the hockey guy. John Wisebrod would probably be the better scout of the two.

I guess thanks for Treliving for not bringing in anybody else to give us a better shot at making the playoffs, thus giving up picks. Hindsight, wonderful.

Most of the scouting sounds like it was between Tod Button and Tom Webster, and those guys I believe date back to Al Coates

This could get rolled into the Eat Crow thread for me. I like Jay feaster but I gave him a hard time on occassion. He and his players definitely came out on top.

Agree with giving Feaster a lot of credit. He should be employed again soon. And I think he's pretty likeable.
But as always luck/fortune also plays a big role in how things play out. I mean, we could have had ROR if Colorado played along with him...

One other thought in terms of Feaster, and how this team may emulate his past success:
Can Monahan be Lecavelier?
Can Gaudreau be St Louis?
Can Bennett be Richards?
Can the support equal what was for that Lightning team?
Would've been very optimistic a year ago. Now maybe not so far off?

Nice comment from Darryl:
"We played hard," said Kings head coach Darryl Sutter, who led the Flames to the Stanley Cup finals in 2004. "I got no complaints with anything to do with our team. I give the Calgary Flames lots of credit. Now I get to pull for them."

Not sure why Darryl is being thanked, he left this organization in shambles.
This is all thanks to finally realizing that sitting with old guard would never work, and that Darryl's idea was flawed, and forcing Jay to follow that vision was the wrong move as well.
Once they allowed Jay to tear it down we can see how drafting and building is the only way to get it done.
