Default I don't Like Corrado -- But I like Johnny Hockey

100% Dirty elbow. Gaudreau saw the hit coming and stopped up to dodge it like any smart, shifty hockey player would do. Corrado realized he'd missed so he threw his elbow out to get him anyways. Cheap shot.

Engelland, Bollig, mcgrattan, ferland, smith, kanzig, wolf, brookbank, van Brabant... Take your pick Corrado. Knew someone was eventually going to be stupid enough to go after gaudreau with a dirty hit. Looks like Corrado will be the first one to be made an example of. Whether it's in the preseason, AHL, or the NHL... Some of the wealth of flames muscle will make him pay for that.

Heck... the Canucks may have just bought themselves a whole season of mcgrattan, Bollig, and engelland at the opening face off. Don't make this a one-time thing either... The price for going after the kids with cheap hits like that needs to be relentless harassment every time the flames play him. Send a very clear message to the rest of the league.

I love it when people excuse it and say he's not that type of player.

Video says he is that type of player.

Corrado is a plug, and he knows that Johnny is already a superstar. Hitting JG with a dirty elbow like that is exactly what this grocery-stick knows he has to do if he ever wants his name to spread around the league.

That being said, I hope Big Ern turns him into soup next week.

It's the Canucks. He really could be a good kid who just got mixed up with the wrong crowd.

That can be avoided. When Benning and the other Canucks scouts are meeting with you before the draft, just take a huge dump on the floor.

Another Canuck would just dive under it and catch it on his chest.

You didn't think a blatant forearm/elbow directly to the head was dirty?

I was sitting across from where it happened in the stands and there were some very typical Canuck fans sitting behind me that made the moment complete.

Dirty hit- but the intention is debateable for me. It looks like Corrado was lined up for the hit, Johnny saw it last second and dodged- and Corrado desperately puts out his arm so that he at least makes some kind of contact without completely missing his check.

It wasn't last second that he saw it, Johnny realized Corrado was trying to cut him off and hits the breaks while Corrado is uncontrollably flying into the boards. Intent shouldn't really matter at all, what actually happened should if it's a dirty play.

I just don't get why he had to through his arm/elbow up to make head contact. Unnecessary. I don't think Corrado is typically a dirty player but this was a dirty play.

I don't mind someone getting retribution by punching him up a bit but I don't think it will be Big Ern, likely one of the youngsters who played in this tournament IMO.

Ferland needs to finish what he tried to start. It'll probably be him, if anyone.

“The shift before they went after Hunter Shinkaruk and I saw an opportunity to make a hit on one of their skill players.” - Frank Corrado Sept 16 2014

His intention was to target JG and that probably is why he went the extra mile to nail him in the head when he missed with his body. So instead of targeting whoever "went after Shinkadink (sic)" (does anyone know what he's referring to?), he went after the smallest guy on the ice who in no way would ever retaliate.

That looked like a hit that Corrado wanted to line up, but then realized he wasn't in position (because Johnny saw it coming and adjusted) so he straight-armed him anyways.

Completely unnecessary, didn't look accidental at all. You don't 'straight-arm' someone like that from that distance and angle unless you're trying to leave a message or something.
