Thought they took another step forward tonight. Actually thought they looked a lot better as a team in the last game against the Blues as well, but there were a plethora of individual errors in that game, most notably Gio and Dougie. Tonight, again a bit better and less errors.

Missed the game but caught the highlights. How were the big 3 on defense?

Solid. Brodie scored the Hawks second goal, but was in the correct position and 99/100 that puck will be deflected into the corner instead of past Elliott. Lots more 5 man defending. I don't think there was one odd man rush? Really impressive defending on the 4-on-3 in OT as the Hawks had the puck in the zone for almost all of the powerplay.
Looked like they finally went out there and played their game.

Gio and Dougie played great, which errors are you referring to? Brodie and Engelland were the ones who struggled. Both on the ice for both goals against and Brodie almost cost us the game with his weak chip on the boards with 7 seconds left.

If Tkachuk get's into action tomorrow I'd like to see Versteeg get another shot on the top line. He's really coming around imo.

Who would you sit for Tkachuk tomorrow?
I'd have a tough time sitting anybody because all the forwards played well tonight with the possible exception of Bouma, so maybe him.

I thought Chiasson was actually quite good there. Stick with what worked.

I'd try these lines if you were to re-insert Tkachuk tomorrow
Gaudreau-Monahan-Chiasson
Versteeg-Bennett-Brouwer
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Ferland-Stajan-Hamilton

Great AWESOME effort by the whole team! That's what I'm talkin' about! If only the they'd play like this at home every time 60 minutes per game. I'll take this one any day.

Just watched the highlights on DTMTS - looks like it was a well-played game on both sides. I couldn't believe some of Elliott's saves in the OT...wow!
Nice to see the boys get a win, albeit in the SO, but two points looks good to them right now and gets them some momentum hopefully.

Awesome effort by the team and especially Elliot. That's the goalie I was expecting we were signing in the off season. Johnny, Gio, Ferland played well too.
I thought they kept the ice level (or tilted) most of the game except for the 4-3 PK in OT and afterward.

So nice to have a goalie steal the game for us. Dying seconds save, OT PK, flawless multiround shootout facing three possible future HHOFers? Mental.

Maybe I'm out of touch, but when was the last time the CFD was in the paper/news for the wrong reasons? I'm genuinely curious

The Brodie/Engelland pairing isn't looking so hot right now. If they can't improve Gulutzan may have to split them up. Otherwise not too much to complain about outside of the extremely weak shootout attempts once again. There has to be a couple of players on this team that can make a deke no?

I'm really not sure what to think of D. Hamilton right now. I thought he was okay in the first, and then in the second stopped moving his feet outright, but then got his stick in the right places in the third.
What the hell man.

This is his 3rd system in 3/4 years. Guy probably would benefit from some stability behind the bench.
