So.. non story? a GM calls the Flames who are struggling asking about a player, and we hang up. Now he's trade bait?

Wouldn't almost all high potential players on a team get their tires kicked by others team hear and there?

FWIW, McKenzie said this regarding Dougie Hamilton on Friday morning of NHL draft weekend... #Flames

McKenzie: "I get conflicting reports. What I hear in Calgary is Dougie Hamilton is not available. Other people think he is." #Flames 1260

I don't care if you have a guy named Dougie Hamilton or Sidney Crosby; whenever that phone rings you have to pick it up and listen to what's being proposed.

The problem with Hamilton is that you would be selling low and the return for him right now would probably be less valuable than holding on.

I have no idea why people think Dougie Hamilton is 'The Problem.'

Hes a good, young defenceman on a good contract.

Exactly,

What the Flames need now is stability. Creating more variables will not be a solution. Besides, the best time to make big trades is towards the deadline when you can get the best "price" for a player.

Green text? Not sure if you are serious.

Good Contract? Heck No!
Good? NO!
Young? Not really anymore.

You only trade him if you have a chance to bring in Hampus Lindholm in a separate transaction.

Jesus. Simmer down.

Dougie Hamilton is 23. That's hilariously young. He's the youngest defenseman on the roster, aside from Kulak.

His contract is amazing. The money is low, and the term will take him through his prime.

He set a career high in points last year. That's frigging amazing, especially with his awful start last year. There's no reason to believe he won't be just as good this year.

If you really think he's the problem, you're the problem.

That's the only time? Not for any other players, ever? Unless you're an NHL GM, you don't even know who's available - according to LeBrun, GM's dont even know if Dougie is available

23-24 is pretty young for defensemen.

If you move him you had better be filling the void with someone else. Hamilton is a 90th percentile d-man in the NHL. There is not much available right now that can replace him with If you can nab a first rounder from someone, for him, and flip that (plus an asset) for Lindholm you do it. I highly doubt there is any other available D-men out there better than Hamilton.
