Default Flames @ Blackhawks. 6:30 PM. Sportsnet, Fan 960

(Well, someone's gotta get this show on the road...)

From the Calgary Herald (http://calgaryherald.com/sports/hock...ago-blackhawks):

How They Match Up
Forwards: Chicago
Patrick Kane is always dangerous at the United Center.
Defence: Chicago
You can’t go wrong with Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook.
Goaltending: Calgary
Despite their numbers, Brian Elliott and Chad Johnson have been solid.
Power Play: Chicago
Calgary’s league-worst PP unit isn’t going to win any awards right now.
Penalty Kill: Calgary
No team has given up more goals on their penalty kill than the ‘Hawks.
Intangibles: Chicago
Despite early season inconsistencies, they’re still the Chicago Blackhawks.
Overall: Chicago
Calgary’s struggles continue.

Projected Flames lines (from www.dailyfaceoff.com)

Gaudreau - Monahan- Frolik
Versteeg-Bennett-Brouwer
Bouma -Backlund-Chiasson
Ferland-Stajan-F Hamilton

Giordano-Wideman
Brodie-D Hamilton
Jokipakka-Engeland

Elliott

Projected Blackhawks lines (also from www.dailyfaceoff.com)

Motte-Toews-Panik
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Hartman-Kruger-Hossa
Rasmussen-Schmaltz-Tootoo

Keith-Campbell

And finally, Doctor Frankenpuppet is working furiously in his lab to inject a little life into his Flames. He plans to take them from this:

Let's hope the Flames can be half as coordinated as these two.

I predict the Flames have their best effort of the season. Maybe even a pp goal.

However, hawks still win by 2 or more goals. I predict 5-2 hawks...

I have a good feeling about this game. I don't think the Hawks are as good as they have been in past seasons.

That Hawks second line is killer. I'm not even sure who I want out there defending them. I guess Backlund.

The question is, can we stop Richard Panik?

I didn't believe this when I read it so I checked. Chicago is 9/21 (42.9%) on the PK this year. Didn't think it was possible to be worst than Calgary's so far.

Hoping the jaunt away from home allows the team to relax and just focus on the game. Need to get back to trusting their instincts and not overthink every play.

The PK has been somewhat of a positive for Calgary in these dark times.

Let's call this a win if the Flames give up 2 or less breakaways and score on the powerplay.

There's the antidote the Flames PP needed. I predict a 4-3 Flames win, with 4 power play goals.

Why is it not likely to go the exact opposite way? A 42.9% kill for the Hawks isn't just stumbling a little, it's gawdawful. Our kill has been decent so far, what makes you say that they're going to be terrible tonight?

So sick of the overly negative posts these days.

it's hard to bet against the Hawks in who is likely to benefit from the other team

they are the Hawks. Maybe some realism would prevent this forum from going off the chain after a loss tonight. Most active threads right now are discussing firing coaches, management, trading Giordano, etc. after 6 games.
