/mods should this be in the ticket exchange sub-forum?

Just another major act skipping Calgary because of the awful saddledome.

As for presale, there isn't one, except by buying a tool fan club membership for $50USD. And that presale starts tomorrow morning and is done directly through the tool site, not ticketmaster.

I'm not 100% sure how good the presale tickets are. Presale tickets have a tendency to suck but I feel like Tool wouldn't leave us hanging like that.

Fan club tickets are a different deal though. Pearl Jam fan club tickets are pretty much the very best tickets available. Last time they came when they had that small GA floor area, you had to be a Ten Club member to get those tickets. I imagine most fan clubs are the same, you are paying the band for the membership of course. I'd hope they'd respect that. But with the Ten Club for instance you have to be a member well before tickets go on sale, can't just join right before and get access.

Ha, like waiting for a new album? I'd spend the $50 to guarantee good seats, not sure I will though as my last few presale experiences have not been great...

Could be wrong but it was my understanding that the pre-sale was for VIP packages only. $500 USD.

11 years since the last show. Cannot wait.

Seen TOOL twice now. I still hope they will one day play Eulogy live for me and complete my life.

I just double checked and I think you are right. When I saw mention of access to a presale I assumed there was a general presale, not just VIP packages.

Either way, I am stoked. I've seen tool the last two times they were here. Once back in about 2001 and then in 2006 for the 10,000 days tour.

They put on a show that is unlike most modern rock concerts.

Lets not turn every thread into a political one please. On the topic will they sell out the dome?

I don't know. Probably? Maybe? Both their previous shows were well attended and Tool strikes me as a band that has tremendous staying power, despite their lack of new material in recent years.

They also don't tour much, which means even casual fans will likely want to see them again.

Sell out #s at the dome is tricky at the best of times. My understanding is that there are numerous different concert set ups that can drastically change the capacity of the building. From seeing the seating chart, Tool will be using one of the larger ones, but not the largest. I'd estimate about 13k-15k, which is a pretty good crowd.

I think it will be well attended but a sellout in the dome is a lot of people and while Tool has hardcore fans I don't know if it's enough to sell out the dome. I just don't want to get on the advanced ticket thing if tickets will be readily available when they go on sale.

Oh it definitely will not sell out right at 10AM. So I wouldn't worry much about that. Might only be 200 level left if you're looking at say 10:05 AM, but I doubt there willl be a total sellout.

Also a reminder: Many bigger shows recently, scalpers and bots have often been stuck with lots tickets at the end when the concert is going to happen. So a little patience and you might get some tickets below face value

So for comparison I bought row 3 centre tickets last time in a Ticketmaster auction. It was what they did briefly before they straight up allowed ticket holder to scalp using their site.

I paid $110 each for a pair.

That's well below what tickets will go for directly from ticketmaster for this show, which would be $125 plus about $25 in fees.

As for waiting until closer till the show and relying on buying tickets for less than face value, the only problem with that is that you'll have to be prepared to sit in the back of the lower bowl or in the second bowl. The demand for premium tickets, floor low first level, doesn't usually dissipate.

I've seen TOOL twice at the Dome, once in the far back and once on the floor. They put on an excellent show.

Interesting they are touring without any new material. Any rumours when if ever they will release a new album? Come on guys, it has been over 10 years!

I almost positive Tool sold out the last time they came here in a couple hours. Tool has a pretty solid loyal fanbase, plus they haven't been here in 11 years. I would say if you are really interesting in tickets it wouldn't be worth it to wait for a good deal. If you are on the fence, then might be worth the risk.
