If this thread is redundant what with the "I don't want to live in the world" thread and the "Grinds my Gears" thread (or other threads I may not be aware of), apologies and by all means, dispose of it.
My thought is that this thread could be a good place to share wisdom and life lessons learned the hard way. Here's a few to kick it off:
- Even if you change, some people just ain't gonna like you.
- Sometimes life is just the same old, two-line song: I love her; and she's gone.
Location: A simple man leading a complicated life....
Exp:
“The culture doesn't encourage you to think about such things until you're about to die. We're so wrapped up with egostical things, career, family, having enough money, meeting the mortgage, getting a new car, fixing the radiator when it breaks. We're involved in trillions of little acts just to keep going . So we don't get into the habit of standing back and looking at our lives and saying, Is this all? Is this all I want? Is something missing?”
For me, do whatever makes you happy. I am lucky enough to be doing a couple of things that I really enjoy doing both in terms of my profession and the podcasting I do with Dan.
Find what makes you happy and if you can make money at it, all the better.
There are always ugly things in life and sometimes you get everything and the kitchen sink thrown at you. Focus on the positive and endure.

In a fist fight, don't mess around with pushing and threatening, its not a bro down its a fight. Get the first punch in.
And unless you are trained in karate or some similar type of martial art, never try to kick in a fight. I have seen so many people get whooped right after resorting to kick. Oh, and head butt to the nose works like a charm.
When something goes wrong, always look at what you could have done differently. What was your role? You can't control outside influences, but you can control yourself. Always make an effort to learn from mistakes.
Unless someone is an expert on something, don't take their opinion or advice as the final word on whether you should take a gamble. It's good to consider it, but I have been talked out of things too often that would have paid off if I didn't listen to the advice of people who didn't really know anything more than I did.
And I think this one is similar to a phrase the Buddha said, but in order to grow, you need to leave your comfort zone. If you always play it safe, you never have a need to evolve or improve. If you lose your job, get dumped, or find yourself on some hard times, use it as a way to grow.
