Influential yes, but not a big body of work.
Kate Bush, Beck, Devo, Tribe Called Quest get my vote.
I guess it's a question of how great the influence was and in both bands case, like the stooges and Velvet Underground it was beyond measure.
Chuck Berry's real body of work is little more than an album, he, like all working blues and early rock musicians would release endless remakes of their hits, they were happy to remake Johnny B Goode's basic chords into a hundred different versions (including blatent versions like Bye Bye Johnny), but if wasnt for those 28 songs we'd be still listening to Perry Como

The Foo Fighters induction was kind of weird. I know they have that connection with Paul McCartney, but he went up there and kind of rambled about music in general and then his connection to Dave, but didn't mentioned a single thing about the Foo Fighters and their music.
Dave kept it really short too. I've seen a lot of these inductions and usually there's a lot of words spoken to the influence of the band/artist and towards their music.
I'd only put Beck in from that list. He was massively influential, wrote all the songs, played all the instruments and successfully reinvented himself many times over his career. There's no one else on the list that even comes close in terms of individual talent (except Eminem, or maybe Dolly and Ritchie).
If you're going to put Eminem on there, just make a hip hop wing already, or call it the contemporary music hall of fame or something. Let's be honest, they're starting to run low on rock acts (who do they even put in in 10 years, My Chemical Romance?) so they might as well just rebrand now.
E: I like how Dolly's comment amounts to "Hey dummies, I don't play rock music."

You honestly believe no other act on the list deserves the honor?
That's ridiculous. There are artists on the list that are a heck of a lot more influential to rock music than Beck, and also artists who I feel have a deeper quality of music.

I think Beck is worthy of entry, but that is hardly the hurdle required for the HOF.

It's not the I did everything by myself hall of fame. By your logic, most of the artists shouldn't be in the hall because they were either in a band or had a band?
Besides, did he really write all the songs if he extensively used samples? for example using Them’s “I Can Only Give You Everything” on Devil's Haircut.
Besides, how successful was his reinventing? when is the last time he has any sales to speak of or popular songs?
And what about your point about being massively influential?
Shall we go down the list and tell you how many of the acts that have been more influential, especially in rock?

He's won 3 grammy's in the last 3 years, over 30 years into his career, playing music that sounds nothing like his early music. He's done alt-rock, anti-folk, psychedelia, art-pop, synth-pop, all getting radio play and accolades from critics and in awards. He's gone platinum 4 times, sure it was a while ago, but that's pretty common with popular musicians.
I will expand my requirements to "plays rock music" and "has more than one good album" and will also include Judas Priest even though I'm a Maiden guy.
All of his recent albums have broken the billboard top 50 and his singles also do well on the various billboard charts. He still seems to do very well in Australia, Europe, Japan, US & Canada.
