I mean, last I checked there's a "free" in free agent for a reason. 
But you should know the Oilers are amazing, multiple cups incoming, and every good available player is their birthright and will "look sooo good beside McDavid". But he's signing with the Flames because it's his best opportunity to play NHL hockey, and the Oilers are too deep for him to have a chance.
