Default #31DaysofHockey

Hi CP!

I'm (Beer League Talk and Me) starting a crazy initiative Jan 1st and I'm hoping I can get your support, help, input, love? I am teaming up with The Heart and Stroke Foundation and playing hockey every day for 31 days to promote heart health & heart disease prevention to beer league hockey players. I will be filming every game with a variety of cameras and releasing a vlog on YouTube every day to document this journey. My goal is to have adult hockey players realize that heart disease is serious and it can start plaguing us even in our early 20's and sometimes earlier. Prevention is the best defense but being active & eating better can help reduce our risks greatly.

This initiative started after I met a CWHL player for the Calgary Inferno. She started a charity called Keep the Beat to promote heart health awareness. Her dad passed away after having not 1 but 2 separate heart attacks while playing hockey. As a 34 year old who is expecting his first kid, taking better care of myself has been dominating my thoughts lately. A lot of my health issues are self inflicted and something that I can rectify by taking control of things. I think a lot of it has to do with all of us thinking nothing like that can ever happen to us.

I'd love if you guys joined me on this journey.

It'd be great if you could do something as simple as subscribing to our youtube channel : Youtube.com/c/beerleaguetalk.

I'd be stoked if you could share our Youtube channel & this initiative with the Hockey Players you know.

It'd be really cool if you played as much hockey as you can in January to increase awareness & shared your story with us on our Daily Vlogs.

If you're someone who loves helping out causes like this monetarily you can donate to our show at Patreon.com/beerleaguetalk. Every new donor we get in January will have their money donated directly to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

I will be playing a mixture of league, ODR, and shinny games. I invite you guys to come play with me during the ODR & shinny games. If you hear of any ODR or shinny, I'll be looking for opportunities like mad. I have league games on Monday, Tuesday, and a shinny on Friday. I'll be looking for Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday ice times!

Thanks for listening dudes! See ya'll on the ice!

Not sure what times of day you're looking to play but Shinny Hockey Calgary has games at noon on Mondays and on some Thursdays. Really cool idea, and love the concept. Post when you're planning on playing ODR because I'd love to join you.

I work full time in hockey so I can usually make time during the day to play hockey if I need to. I know the Shinny Hockey guys! Im sure I'll hit them up at some point. I'm hoping that that the weather will cooperate after next week. ODR at -15 or lower isn't attractive but I might be out there a few times when it's that cold.

I have a saturday night group that I organize that plays a shinny style game weekly. Its late on saturday nights (10:45pm). I could hold a spot for you if you were needing an opportunity to fill your schedule.

Its a good mix of skilled guys, average guys and a few less experienced players. Age range from late 20's to mid 50's.

Do you play any league in Calgary? I play Div 7 NCHL in Calgary. Seems like I'd be ok out there with ya'll?

If you're talking out my personal game stats:

It's actually in this video.. My stats are pretty unspectacular.

5-6-1 in league games
5G - 7A
The other 4 ice times have been shinny and ODR.

I am down 6lbs and I haven't been sick all January (I'm usually sick when anyone gets sick and I'm the only one close to me who hasn't been sick)so I guess being active helps on the immune system health.

Sadly, the Estonians demanded better working conditions and less honey, they got a kiddy pool but Vaseline, being a petrochemical-based product was outlawed and honey was against policy due to the honey-bee shortage.

Further, due to the failure of the circus and the rise of animal eco-activism the elephants were no longer available to clean up the peanut carnage and persuant to the elevation of the minimum wage it became fiscally impossible to pay a person to do it.
