To be fair, the KSPS PBS station was only good for watching Doctor Who and Red Dwarf in the 80's/90's......I guess the P will now stand for Private instead of Public.

According to NEA data, the endowment’s budget for fiscal 2015 was $146 million. That represents 0.004 percent of the overall federal budget, or 46 cents per American per year. It’s also almost one-third what the U.S. budget allocated last year for military bands. For an international comparison, the Canada Council for the Arts budgets eight times as much, on a per-person basis, with plans to double that by 2021.

Historically, the agency has awarded thousands of grants for orchestras, jazz, operas, chamber music, and beyond. And just looking back through the past year or so, the array of specific programs affected by the endowment is dizzying. If you saw a video last year of David Bowie talking about working with Lou Reed, that was part of an NEA-funded digital archive. An Esperanza Spalding performance at Manhattan’s Baryshnikov Arts Center, a Steve Reich 80th-birthday celebration at Carnegie Hall, and a Quincy Jones tribute at the Monterey Jazz Festival are among endowment-boosted events from 2016.

It does say that the NEA costs $146 million bucks a year. That's a big chunk of change. Could possibly even cover Trump's personal tax dodge this year. It's all relative, and that money has to not come from somewhere.

I would be losing my mind if I were living in the US though. They have managed to elect (almost by accident--he lost the popular vote by 3 million votes) an utterly incompetent nincompoop to the highest office in their land, and he has responded by nominating the motleyest crew of crazies, loons, deliberate ignoramuses and uninformed ideologues to occupy the key cabinet posts in his White House.

Should make for an interesting 4 years. They are going to MISS Obama...

$146M. That's peanuts. Exxon Mobil got an $8B refund on their taxes. They didn't pay a cent, and got money back. Almost 64 times what the NEA is worth. So, the Feds can tell Exxon to GFTO with their refund, allowing them to pay no taxes, and the pay for the NEA for the next 64 years. How about that instead?

For all the dumb things Trump says and does, he rarely says anything directly about Canada. I don't think he minds us, so I doubt much changes. He might screw around with NAFTA, but in general, trade will continue as is (Mexico will be affected more I think). Plus, he does have a lot of investments in Canada.

Any effect on us, I think will be collateral damage on his foreign policy in general, but not necessarily directed at us.
