[GDT] Flames vs Comets - Friday Nov 28 @ 5:00pm (MST)
Adirondack Flames (12-6-1-0) vs Utica Comets (Vancouver Canucks) (13-4-2-0)
I don't have all the facts on what's going on in this picture, so I will just assume that the Comets player dove
Game Notes: - The Flames have won 9 straight games and 11 of their last 12. Their only loss in that streak came against the Comets on 11/01.
- This is the 3rd of 12 meetings between the Flames and Comets. Comets lead the season series 2-0 outscoring the Flames 8-4.
- Adirondack has not given up a PPG since 11/10. They have killed off 27 penalties in that time.
Roster Notes:- Josh Jooris (F), Markus Granlund (F), Sven Baertschi (F), Michael Ferland (F) and Corban Knight (F) are up with the Calgary Flames
- Devin Setoguchi (F) has been assigned to Adirondack but has not yet reported. He is unlikely to play tonight.
- Joni Ortio (G) will start
- Sena Acolaste (D), Patrick Sieloff (D) and Dustin Stevenson (D) are healthy scratches for tonight
- Kenny Agostino (F) was not at the morning skate. He took a puck to the face during the Marlies game and left the game so he may be dealing with a facial injury.
Standings:- Adirondack sits in 4th (out of 30 teams) in the AHL and 2nd in the North Division
- PP is 3rd in the AHL at 24.5% (23/94)
- PK is 15th in the AHL at 82.8% (72/87)
Stats: - Ortio (G) is tied for 1st for most wins with 9, 3rd for most saves and 4th for minutes played
- Hathaway (F) and Arnold (F) are tied for 3rd for most PPG by a rookie (3)
- Cundari (D) is 2nd for PP assists by a Defenceman
Point Streaks and Notables:- Culkin - 1G, 6A in 6GP
- Cundari 7A in 6GP
- Elson - 2G in 5GP
- Hanowski - 6G in 6GP
- Poirier - 4G, 5A in 10GP
- Ramage - 4A in 8GP
- Reid - 2G, 2A in 3GP
- Reinhart - 1G, 4A in 7GP
- Tousignant - 2G, 2A in 7GP
- Vause - 1G, 3A in 4GP
- Wolf - 2G, 5A in 9GP
- Wotherspoon - 2A in 3GP

Thus one should be interesting. Utica came out if the gates on fire but the Flames are as hot as a pistol. Round 2 of Poirier vs Shinkaruk, head to head.

I hate to compliment anything Canucks related, but Markstrom was playing out of his mind to start the season, that's how they got so far ahead. 4 of his first 6 games were shutouts. One of the 2 non-shutout games was only 1 GA. That's unheard of. He's returned to human form now as his last 3 GP have a combined 11 GA with his last game against Rockford being 6 GA.
Meanwhile, we have Turkubot 2.0 back. His game is clicking again so if he goes into shutdown mode, the Comets are in trouble. The Flames have the offense now to make Markstrom's life miserable and Ortio has the confidence and swagger back to stop everything and laugh at them while doing it.

I thought the same thing, but 10 is Knight's NHL Flames number. 11 is his AHL Flames number.

Oh hello Flames team I remember from before.
The slow start from the Marlies game has been corrected. Flames with the majority of the puck control early in the game.

Agostino hurt? Or just sitting like Culkin and Ramage the past few weeks?

Agostino took a puck to the face during the Marlies game and left to the dressing room holding a towel over his face.
Nothing has been said officially about injury, but it looked like it hurt.

Wolf flying in alone after a great pass by Poirier but Erikkson makes the save.
Gotta say, Wolf is quick when he wants to be.

Trevor Gillies lays down to block a rather hard slapshot and break up a play.
That's the second game in a row he's made a decent defensive play. Perhaps he's coming around.
Hathaway and Grenier going after Grenier just nailed Wotherspoon into the corner of the boards. Hathaway dropped him in two shots it looked like
Flames will get a PP out of this.

Some pushing going on in front of the crease after a shot.
Cundari somehow gets a penalty out of this. Everyone was pushing and shoving and Cundari gets the roughing call. Alright then. You could have given everyone a roughing call if that's what we were basing it off of.

Wolf taking a massive hit.
Wolf is still down. He looks hurt. Flames training is running to tend to him.
Wolf went head first into the boards and his neck didn't quite move in a natural way.
Edit: Did get up and to the room under his own power.

Flames will get a PP from this.
Friesen will only get 2 minutes for interference for the Wolf hit.

Flames 0/2 early on the PP.
Had some good chances but couldn't finish. Both have been partial PP's.
