Tomorrow's predicted 10mm forecast is already down to >1mm now. Like at this point why ever predict rain during this stretch? It's never right. I'd rather they say 0 every day and be pleasantly surprised than continuously disappointed.

This fire up in northern BC is insane. It's up to 340,000 hectares today.

Where I’m working right now has us directly west of it! The smoke cloud on that thing gets massive every afternoon.

How far west? Must be incredible to see the smoke and I imagine at night it must be producing some orange glow. Is it audible where you are?
I hope for your sake the smoke is all blowing eastward.

We we are something like 20k away so far enough to not hear things but close to have to worry about it haha. I’ve been out here a week and we’ve had favourable winds so only a day of smoke.

Great picture, that's an imposing column of smoke! Kind of otherworldly.

Almost looks like an impending sand storm... but white an ghostly clouds in a different sort of ominous way.

Definitely otherworldly as I catch myself staring at it every once in a while. Crazy thing is there usually two other plumes to the left at the same time, I just can’t get a good picture of all 3 at once.

Expected to wake up to rain and woke up to smoke instead: the past month in a nutshell.

100 years of improper forest management will take some time to make up for. But once all of that burns I think you return to more normal forest cycles.

BC forest management has been bottom of the barrel for some time, as the wind blows east instead of southwest. Alberta's has taken a nosedive in the last 5 years.
Quebec's trees don't speak french.

Why do the forecasts suck so badly for Calgary? Rain at 10am, then rain at 3pm, now rain at 10pm? Why do they seem to be so consistently wrong at forecasting?

Super annoying, would almost go as far as anxiety creating. Feels like it will never rain
