I would imagine when all is said and done the Flames will likely have another first round pick in the range of 20-32 and if any team has inside information on the kid it's the Flames.

I posted this a while back as the dream scenario… flames acquire an extra pick or two in the first round and select Tij with one. Jarome gets to call his son’s name at the draft. Flames fans go nuts. Two years later, Tij makes the team as a gritty 3rd/4th line forward built for playoff hockey… flames win the cup on home ice. Since Tij is the youngest player on the team, he’s the last player that gets to raise it… which also means he gets to be one to hand it off to the first non-player to hold it. For the sake of sports fans everywhere, that next person gets to be his old man. This instantly becomes one of the greatest moments in sports history.

I wouldn't be upset at all if we ended up reaching to draft him. I hope to get additional picks so we could intentionally do it if need be.

Baby Iggy was third star tonight with 2g in a 5-4 loss to the Cougs. He is tied for 4th in goals in the WHL, with 17 in 21 games. 21gp/17g/8a/25pts,-12, 13 PIM. Second-worst on the Rockets for plus/minus, and 4th worst in the league.

Seems like it would be easier to teach Iggy 2.0 how to not be minus 12 than it would be to score 17 goals in 21 games

The first step would be to get him off of a team with a goal differential of –20 in 21 games.

On a team that bad, a large minus rating is practically a badge of honour. It means you're being trusted to face the most dangerous opponents.

Is he playing 5 on 5 with Cristall? That would help a ton

If he's only on the powerplay with him that is far more impressive.

The Rockets are indeed the 3rd-worst team in the WHL right now, and yet Cristall still has 32 points in 17 games, 8th in the league.

There's really no ‘and yet’ about it. The Rockets aren't bad because of their offence. They're right in the middle of the pack in goals for. However, they have given up more goals against than any other team but the Edmonton Oil Kings.

In points per game, Cristall is second in the league. In goals per game, Iginla is, I believe, 6th. But it's hard for any of that to make a difference when you're giving up almost five goals per game.

Looks like scouting reports for Tij's WHL performance are starting to trickle in. This is the first one I've found:

Source: https://dobberprospects.com/player/tij-iginla/

Quote:
Though the scoring has dried up somewhat from his red-hot start, Tij Iginla still looks like an interesting prospect. Besides the name pedigree, Iginla is an easy player to root for. His habits away from the puck are a definite strength, from his frequent scanning, active stick, good forechecking routes and hard-nosed backchecking. Iginla’s best skills seem to be in slowing the play down to give him space or finding soft spots on the ice. He gets off the wall to the middle quickly, and can also drift into high-danger areas, and when paired with his lightning-quick snapshot, makes him a dangerous goal scorer. Though his skating isn’t elite, he’s got quickness, stability and mobility which helps him be a solid transition player, though they’re more useful off the cycle, where he is just as effective, solving problems and playing a possession game. Iginla might lack the high-end dynamism of some of the other WHLers in this class, but his combination of all-around skills and pro-level habits make him a good bet to be a contributing NHLer.

Really has his Papi's shot. The last 3 or 4 goals he's scored have been laser beams.

Also, Cristall got injured so he's been doing it alone.

I'm kind of surprised that Iggy was already that heavy at that age.
No wonder he was so strong on the puck at that level.

Not likely to ever be a star.

I suppose accurate since the Stars traded him before he played a game?
