Until Monahan has Crosby numbers, he won't get respect on this board.

107 goals in first four NHL seasons...not many players can say that

Some people would still whine about him guaranteed.

Thought it was more comical than anything. Reminded me of the old days when we would travel for hockey games/tournaments.

I totally think that Monahan is a skill player. He finishes and he can dish out saucer passes. That is actually one of the reasons I want him and Gaudreau separated, as I think he does well when holding onto the puck and making plays. He has a fantastic finish, and ends up deferring to Gaudreau when they are together because of it, but I think he can drive possession on his own and will become a better player if he handles the puck more.

Wayne Gretzky numbers? I guess if you want to be second or the first loser.

Johnny scores off a nice Trouba rush late in the 2nd period to tie things up against Latvia 3-3:

If he gets more explosive and assertive he could become a true franchise C. the skating part is self explanatory, but if he ever started dropping his shoulder and protecting the puck when he got into the zone and buying time for his line mates instead of deferring to the drop pass he could take his game to another level

I'd love for the Flames to somehow get Brayden Point. Calgary boy, right shot, slide him in with Johnny and Monahan. A man can dream...

The Swiss tie it 2-2 half way through the third.

I didn't see Johnny playing in that area at all this season.

One can only speculate as to why his goal total dropped off..

He is a fairly popular choice in the goalie poll thread, and I don't get what people see in him.
