Disagree. Drouin is showing that juniors were definitely not a hindrance to him, no different for Reinhart. There's still a lot he can learn in juniors

I feel the Flames really got fortunate that the Sabres picked the WHL Sam. I'm not saying that Reinhart won't be a good player in the NHL but he has nowhere near the jam the Bennett clearly showed in exhibition. In fact there weren't any players on the Flames roster that showed the same jam as Bennett. The kid is going to be a good one for this franchise.

I would not at all be surprised if we landed the best player in the draft.

I actually think Bennett would've had a chance to stick had he been offered 9 games and didn't have the ongoing shoulder problems.

And I think he would've stuck out the most of the "big 4". (If were looking at exhibitions alone, I think he has)

I hope in the end the scouts are proven right in having ranked Bennett the top skater in the draft. Would be a nice little victory for the Flames.

It's what needed to happen -- he didn't look terrible but he didn't look ready either.

And get real guys, it's way too early to be putting Bennett or Reinhart against each other. At this point Reinhart has NHL experience and will tear up another year at junior and probably captain Team Canada at the world juniors. Bennett is losing a whole year of that kind of development. Far from a slam dunk win at this point.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. I had Bennett #1 going into the draft and some time before.

I believe Hartley said that Bennett would of been up here to start the year if it wasn't for injury, he may have not got more then a couple games, but we would of seen him play.

We still might get to see him this year also.

When was the last time the first forward selected got returned to juniors? I'm looking back at past drafts and it has been at least 10 years (unless I missed something).

Dunno, but you probably don't have to look back as far to see an example of when it should have happened.

The Buffalosers got the worse Sam, deal with it.

While I do prefer our Sam to theirs, at the end of the day I think Bennett would've been returned to junior as well. Neither one is ready for the NHL....and that's fine. Not everyone is a McKinnon.

The Reinhart/Draisaitl/Bennett selections could end up having a similar outcome to Staall/Backstrom/Toews.

Its debatable that Drouin really benefited in any way from going back to junior despite everyone deciding it has worked out great before he's ever actually done anything in the NHL.

He's been demoted to the 4th line in Tampa and played less than 10 minutes last game.

My take on the Reinhart boys is that because they were so NHL aware before they got to the bigs there is not much upside in them now whereas most kids haven't got a clue when they leave Junior and have room to grow. I hope Im wrong but I think none of them will turn out to be anything special and Max will be a complete bust.

I was very relieved when Reinhart was already taken and the Flames drafted Bennet. I think Reinhart will be a good NHL player. But as I remarked at the time, I can't think of big-time NHL player who is lacking stand-out speed, shot, and size. Smarts and hands are great, but if you're average or below-average in those other qualities, it's going to limit your impact.

If they were tanking they would have kept him up. Simply not ready and I don't think it's a given he'll be ready next year either.

I assume you didn't use "speed, shot and size" to mean big-time players have to have all of those. Because there's obviously plenty who lack in on or two.

He didn't look ready for the NHL from the couple of Buffalo games I watched. It's going to be good for him to dominate in the minors and hone his skills
