I just bought a 2012 Rogue, and I'm looking into getting it repainted. There used to be a type of orange that Nissan used on some of their vehicles (like the Fairlady, for instance), and I've always referred to it as "Nissan Orange." It turns out though, that not many people know what I'm talking about. I even had one shop tell me to Google it and bring them a paint code (which is fair, I suppose).
I googled it, and I think this is the right one, but it looks more copper than orange, and I could have sworn it was a metallic base.
Anyway, does anyone know the colour I'm talking about? Like, the actual name of it?
Yeah, I think the picture I posted is Sunset Orange, but I was looking for the metallic one. I'm pretty sure Le mans is the right one, from the pictures in that image search.
Well I feel like an idiot now. I just talked to a shop who ball-parked it at about $10,000 to switch colors. I mean what he said makes sense when I think about it, but my memories of high-school autobody had me convinced that it would just be a sandblast and respray kind of thing.
A 2012 Rogue is a nicer ride than what I upgraded from, but it's not something you just slap a $10,000 paint job on lol.
You could find it cheaper if you were willing to cut a few corners, like if you didn't want to bother doing the inside of the engine bay and making the interior door frames match, stuff like that. Still talking in the thousands though. Re-sprays are very expensive.
How about Blaze Orange plasti-dip? Could do that for like $500

I didn't even know that was a thing... I'm a pretty big fan of really heavy matte finishes, though. I'm kind of an extremist like that. Super high gloss, or really heavy matte.
If I was going to do that though, I would go like as black as possible.
Edit: Oh, like a vinyl thing? I don't know how much time I'd want to spend on taking care of that though. I'm not really planning any major mods to the vehicle; it's really just going to be a commuter.
I phoned a place in town that does dipping and they ballparked $1500-$2000 for a heavy black matte. I didn't specify the number of coats though, but I'd be wanting 5 or 6 I think.
How does it stand up to rock chips and the like? I'm getting sooooo tired of fired hood chips and I hate the look of those clear films that only ever seen to go over half the hood.

If I could dip the whole car, heaven...
Was way more durable than I expected. I figured it'd come off the first time I went to a car wash, but that wasn't the case. Just the other day I had my truck completely covered in mud, took it to the wash and cleaned it off, no problems with the areas that had plasti-dip on them.
They have a separate product that they say adds more protection but I haven't tried it
