Waiting for the official update to the AB Emergency Alert, but...
News Update@ctvedmonton
BREAKING: Officials say entire lower townsite/downtown Fort McMurray under mandatory evacuation.
It's insane how fast this escalated, the flames are barely feet from gridlocked roads of people trying to get out.

There's hate in this country in all directions, we're a pathetic country.
This Fort Mac thing is terrible. Hoping those roads clear up for evacuation. Things can be replaced

Thanks to the brave responders and hoping that everyone gets out safe.
Cannot be an easy task with one highway leading in and out to this area.

Brother and his wife got out, parents and his children were 15-20 cars behind them and got turned around. Heading north to Noralta Lodge at Suncor. Glad they're with their grandparents but for the moment my brother is split from his 5 and soon to be 3 year old.

Yeah, they did all they could to get together in the chaos. Brother was working, his wife was off getting things ready for supper, parents looking after the kids.. and that's how fast things shifted. Legitimately freaking out. 63 is the only way in and out of there.

What other resources can be mobilized quickly to help fight the fires? It's so distant from everything, evacuation will be a nightmare.

Trudeau has to declare state of emergency and get the military in there. This could literally wipe out the entire city and I'm not exaggerating.

The evacuation notice, to give an idea where they were directing people.

Twitter reports that a gas station in Beacon Hill has exploded and taken out hwy 63.
Given the lineups seen above of people trying to get gas, I can only hope nobody was in the vicinity.

If true, that is full on Hollywood disaster movie. Insane. Truly frightening.
