Five people have been killed after a stabbing at a house party in northwest Calgary early this morning.

The Calgary Police Service was called to the party around 1:20 a.m. in the 100 block of Butler Crescent N.W. Officers arrived to find multiple people suffering various wounds, says spokesperson Emma Poole.

Officers tracked a man who had fled the scene and arrested him. Police are not seeking any other suspects.

Brentwood is a neighborhood adjacent to the university, so probably a lot of student rental houses.

This is a party day that starts before noon, in most cases, and goes till the wee hours of the morning- leaves a lot of time for "those kind of guys" to get drunk and stupid. I live closer to Mount Royal, but there was a BSD party 2 doors away from is. Started about 10am and finished after midnight.

I have a feeling the UofC and the UofCSA will be looking at BSD plans for next year in a whole new light.

From what I gather from my younger friends, this year was out of control. Heck, even Original Joes in Aspen had a big group of students drunk as sh*t last night at like 7 causing a ruckus (seriously, who climbs a window in a suburban restaurant?)

Listening to 660 News, they just interviewed a neighbor that said this particular party was pretty tame. They were having a fire in the backyard and then took it inside at around 10:00. He said they were being very respectful.
