I thought he did kill the dog. He let him go before hand, but didn't he shoot him with the sniper after?
I like Bill Paxton on the show. I hope he sticks around beyond this season, though gut says he's offed in the season finale.
Ward's acting is growing on me.
Spoiler!
He actually seems to play the hidden psycho thing pretty good. It really feels like he's battling his good-guy identity inside. Actually I was reading an article a while back that the writers didn't even tell him he was Hydra for the first half of filming.
Can't wait for Fury to drop in and just steal the show!
You're right on the dog. Makes Ward even more of a psycho. He just didn't want to kill it face to face.
Some more tidbits
Spoiler!
The job interview scene was hilarious with Fitz getting pissed off at the dismissal of his bullet.
The current Deathlok is starting to question things, I don't know how he survives.
The Ward crime against his family shows that he was always evil. He escaped from his school stole a car, returned home and burned it down with his brother inside.
Ftiz was the hero in this episode using the joy buzzer on Garrett and I don't think its Ward that's going to save Fitz and Gemma, he tried to kill them. But Fitz still has the quarter on him.
“People are killed by guns everyday in Bogota. But how often does a monster punch a drug lord’s head clean off? That’s international news.”
Interesting. I've been meaning to watch those web mini-series. Apparently there's a few involving Coulson and Sitwell as well. If Carter is a post-WWII period spy show, it could be very very cool.
And in the initial interview didn't Garret mention that Ward didn't know his brother was home?
And Ward was already off at military school, so there is more there than has been revealed; was he always a delinquent or did harsh parents sending him off to military school set him off?

I thought it was a decent ending though they rushed the end of Hydra
Spoiler!
Garrett is clearly dead. That wasn't a surprise, a actor like Bill Paxton is expensive, and he did leave some clues to next year with the diagram that Coulson continued to work on. I did laugh that they made the big show of Paxton going through the pain of getting cybernetic-ally enhanced only to be exploded by Coulson in a nonchalant manner.
Ward is going to probably the freezer, loved the fight scene, you saw them tease his regret and a possible redemption, then May stapled his foot to the floor and punched his throat out. I would expect that he'll break out, but the last scene with the team had Tripp in the picture, so I'm assuming that he's a permanent member.
Fitz and Simmons had a nice little scene there, she's ok but it sounds like Fitz might have some brain damage, is Tahiti going to be a wonderful place?
Deathlok turned, I knew that would happen as soon as I heard about the incentive program. I missed what happened to Quinn, but he's still out there as is the gravitonium. Deathlok is off on the long walk to redemption.
Coulson is now director of Shield and has to rebuild it, I knew that Mace Win . . . err Fury was going to be back, he had a pretty minor role in the season ender after all of the buildup, but he's going to be in the next Avengers movie, but this paves the way for Coulson to return.
Looks like next season is going to have a stronger monster of the week element as they try to capture the escapees from the freezer, but we saw a glimpse of one of Sky's parents, and the theme is going to probably be about evolution.
Overall I think a season that started with the struggle, got really strong, and was a little soft but still good in the end.
question for those who follow the Avengers universe closely
Spoiler!
Was the corpse Kree, and if so does that mean that Sky is an inhuman and will change? It seemed to be an indication last night when they showed Skye's father bleeding
Plus the writing that Coulson was doing kind of points to that story line.
That wasn't really the end of Hydra. Garrett was simply using Hydra to carry on his own agenda. Hydra obviously goes much much deeper than Hydra.
Loved the back and forth between Coulson and Fury, especially during Garrett's spiel. They have some good chemistry together. Was the gun that Fury gave Coulson the same one that Coulson was using when he challenged Loki?
And that May vs. Ward fight was awesome. Having power tools at your disposal always makes things fun!
Spoiler!
And yeah loved Garrett's death scene. That had me cracking up!
I really like how they wrapped up the whole Ward story arc - didn't care for him much as a good guy and despised him as a villain. I was really worried he'd be around for a long time - or worse they try to make good again.
Same goes for killing off Garrett - bonus points for the whole twist with him being repaired only to be blown away by Coulson. I seriously groaned in my head at that scene right up until he exploded. Not that I minded Garrett as a character, I wanted them to end this arc to move to bigger better things.
The May/Ward fight was very well done, right up to Ward getting his foot stapled to the floor and the chopped in the throat. Possible made up a little for how underwhelming the Coulson/Fury vs Garrett/Deathlok showdown was.
Left a few good pieces for setting up the following seasons with Coulson continuing the diagram that Garrett did, Skye's father, and Quinn leaving with the Gravitonium.
Bad:
Am I the only one that thought that the final showdown was lack lustre? There was never a moment where the whole Coulson/Fury vs Garrett/Deathlok confrontation felt tense. It just seemed like one bad comedy.
Didn't seem clear to me - has SHIELD restored their reputation with the US government? Are they still fugitives? The ending scenes would suggest that they were no longer hunted with the military coming in and arresting Ward and the super soldiers.
They should get into the habit of making season finales either 2-part events at the end of the season or span into the next season via cliff-hanger. I think them trying to wrap up the season in one episode resulted in things in general being underwhelming and rushed, probably causing the complaints I had in the first couple of bullets.
Could it have been that they wanted to wrap things up as nice as they could in case Shield didn't get renewed? If they had gotten cancelled, it might have left a weird hole in the Marvel movie universe otherwise.

That would make sense. I think they're going to use the Inhumans as a proxy for Mutants since Marvel Studios doesn't control the rights to the X-Men universe of characters. Current storylines in the comics point to an expanding role for the Inhumans in the greater Marvel universe so I would be unsurprised to that port over to the Cinematic Universe... especially with Guardians of the Galaxy being the next big release.

Solid start to the season. Fitz's condition is heartbreaking. Nice to see Ward upped the crazy a lot. And anything with Lucy Lawless in it can't be bad, right??
Edit: I see Cap posted almost the same stuff I did in the other thread. We really should choose/merge hahah.

Did Fitz have a nice vacation in Tahiti? The phrase he's broken and the imaginary friend makes me wonder. I knew something was wrong when Simmons got all touchy feely.
In the beginning in the Agent Carter flashback when they opened the one box was that another Kree body?
I don't think that artifact is another infinity stone, but it seems to draw life out of people, why would Hydra want it.
Interesting that Garrett is still trying to play Sky, and that he's accepted who he is. I imagine he's going to be broken out eventually by Hydra.
Loved the absorbing man and marked out with the ball and chain stuff.
Yeah Lucy Lawless plays the tough chick so well, but what's with her pumpkin sized head?
Loved Coulson imitating the general, I was waiting for the private to go and shake his hand but it never happened.
