How to Delete Youtube 'Suggestions'?
hey CP
my wife and i are trying to figure something out on her ipad. (old ipad, likely first or second generation)
our 'almost 4 year old' gets very little screen time - usually 20-30 minutes/day max. the normal routine is at bedtime she can watch a video or 2 on the ipad and then it's lights out.
she's your typical kid, so it's stuff like paw patrol, peppa pig, masha and the bear, some monster truck cartoon show (ha! ha! awesome!!), puroro, etc.
recently she discovered a new show and we noticed within a couple days a change in her. i asked my wife if she had ever actually watched an episode and she said no, so i watched one.... lots of the characters yelling/arguing and being confrontational. simple solution - we just didn't let her watch the show and a couple days later her behavior was back to normal
the problem is the show keeps popping up in the 'youtube suggestions' (or whatever you call it)... you know the screen that comes up after the video you are watching has ended, or the long list of videos that show up either under or beside the video you've watched.
we've tried deleting the ipad's history, the cookies and the youtube history (both view and search histories), but the show inevitably shows up (we don't have a youtube account).
is there any way to get rid of the suggestions? is there a way to block a particular show from showing up?
sometimes when watching the bedtime video with her with her, my wife or i (whoever happens to be tucking her in) will fall asleep and sure enough at the end of the show she's watching she'll see the 'suggestions' and then start watching until we wake up.
i've tried googling the topic and not really had any luck
thanks

Pretty sure you're going to need a YouTube account (Google account) to manage these settings.
If the videos are coming from a specific account, you can block that account. Unfortunately it blocks all the content from them so if you're trying to be selective it won't work.
In the app you click the username and then the 3 dots in the corner. You'll see the option to block the user account.

^^^ This. Make a new Youtube account only for her, you will have better control of the settings.

Yeah Youtube Kids app can help as well as the suggestion of making an account for the kid.
But in general trying to monitor consumption on Youtube is problematic at best and becomes far more difficult as they get older.

hey guys
thanks for all the feedback - lots of stuff to try
much appreciated
i think the big thing is not having a gassed mom/dad trying to get her to sleep! ha! she has her favourite videos to watch and when you see them over and over and over again night after night it becomes very easy to dose off!

When you see a video in the suggestions list, you can click the three vertical dots beside the video's title and select "Not Interested".
You will need to be signed into an account for it to remember your selections. I don't know how well it works, but in theory, the more times you say you're not interested, the better your suggestions should be.

I don't have anything to add other than it's your kid, you don't need to justify or explain how much ipad time you give her.
All the hippy parents who claim to raise their kids on vegan diets and meditation sessions can take a hike cause they are full of crap.

Yeah Youtube Kids is where it's at. My 2 year old was finding some weird stuff on regular Youtube so we switched to Kids and it doesn't happen anymore.

People will upload videos that start out as just an episode of a kid's show then half way through change to porn or some demented video. People are broken.

If you can't find a solution, reading a book or two to her is a great alternative.

Because iPad time and reading to your child aren't mutually exclusive
