Then you seriously need to do a Spock like mind-meld on Burke and Treliving to make sure Johnny stays where he belongs...NHL baby!

Stamkos is pretty much a lock to score 50 goals. Honestly, I think he'll be closer to 60 than he is to 50.

I think Ovechkin will get 50 as well.

Not sure that a mind-meld would work on Burke. A prerequisite of the mind-meld is to have a mind to meld with.

He's obviously capable of doing it, but I'm not convinced he'll have a great offensive year under Trotz.

Like it matters who the coach is, Ovechkin is all about Ovechkin and always has been.

If he gets top 6 ice time I can see him leading the club in goals and points. 50 though? I don't think so, not yet anyhow.

For him to get that many assists than goals he'll need a special goal scorer on his line. When you look at his career he's not a cheap assist type of guy. And I don't see a great goal guy on the flames.

I can't find USHL stats(36g-36a) but in college(78g-97a) of the 97 assists 66 were 1st assists. this too me is amazing considering he never played with a real sniper. imagine the assists had he had one!

My prediction if he plays 82 games.

27-29-56pts

At the very least in the calder running.

I am going to go with 55 points, 22 goals and 33 assists (assuming he plays 82 games)

Leads our team in scoring, followed by Giordano with 48-52 points.

I'm going with 31G 32A, pro-rated to however many games he plays in the NHL.

I expect to look foolish in hindsight, but oh well.

I won't predict actual points because I don't expect him to play the full season in Calgary and it's impossible to know how many games he might play.

But I'll predict PPG for the time that he does spend here...

0.25 GPG
0.30 APG
0.55 PPG

I think Johnny will make the team.

Johnny is 21. He has had time to mature and develop his skills and his movements. This isn't some fresh 18 year old fresh out of the CHL, that dominated with his relative size. This is a guy that played all 4 years in college, improved every year, and even at the college level, never once leveraged his size to make plays.

His game translates well into the NHL already because he's had to make plays and protect himself against bigger players his entire life. I don't foresee any particularly high injury chance for him than anyone else.
