I approve of the OP's enthusiasm, however delusional it may be.

I would put the odds at 50/50 that he plays 50 games let alone

however this has turned into a decent thread...just probably should have been titled

"How many will he score" ect.

him getting 50 is less likely than the team winning the cup

Our chances of winning the cup greatly increase IF Gaudreau scores 50 though, I would say.

But think of the face rubbing on our neighbours that would happen if he did achieve this..

"Oh hey Edmonton, so you got 3 first overalls and the best rookie scorer since Ovechkin is a Flame? Oh snap."

Biggest challenge for college kids is wacky travel and playing twice as many games. Knight and Hanowski both identified it as a big challenge for them.

That's a consideration for sure although Glens Falls travel should be a little better than Abbotsford for those who land there.

My guess is 0 NHL players score 50 goals this season.

I'll be happy if he plays more than 50 games in the NHL this year.

I suspect he will spend some time in the AHL this season (and a significant number of people will meltdown over it).

Some of you are being far too pessimistic. I'll be disappointed if Gaudreau doesn't score 50 goals on his first shift of the season alone.

What's the goal record for one game by one player? That's the minimum we should be expecting, nightly.

Darryl Sittler, 6 goals and 4 assists in one game.

I'm melting down over the fact that they are even allowed to send him to the AHL

I was thinking specifically goals, I knew Sittler had the points record with 10. Is 6 the record for most goals in a game?

Joe Malone scored 7 in one game in 1920.
Red Berenson scored 6 in 1968.
Sittler scored 6 in 1976.

Nice

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=7...d=nhl:topheads

NHL's top 275 fantasy rankings going into the season have Gaudreau ranked #234, ahead of some NHL regulars including TJ Brodie. Seems some outside of Calgary/Boston also believe he'll make some noise this season. (not 50 goals)

Didn't know where else to put this.

Default 50 Goals

If you extrapolate Gaudreau's first NHL game over an 82 game season, then he should score 82 goals. So I think that 50 goals may be quite conservative?

Gaudreau scored 10 points at the men's world championship in the spring which was the highest points among the USA forwards.

He was the best forward at the Flames rookie camp in 2013 and 2014.

Being born in Vulcan probable allows me to use my analyticable ability to make the make this reasonable 50 goal forecast.

I am unable to forecast whether he will start in the AHL or the NHL.
