Thats going to be over $15 million in Salary. Do the flames even have room for that?

Ferland compliments alright, but he doesn't create by himself unless he can force the odd turnover. We need it so that the line can do damage whether or not Gaudreau can find space. Someone that can play at their skill level.
1RW / 4D / stopgap G - there are options out there for all three.
Get it done.

Ferland has improved every year since stumbling into his professional hockey career in 2013. He just completed his second full NHL season and just turned 25-years-old. I thought he was one of the Flames top-five forwards in the playoffs, and I believe he still has lots of room to grow into a fixture in the top-six. I look forward to seeing what he can do next year.
The team's top priorities are absolutely in goal and on defence. Virtually all NHL teams must compensate for holes in depth wrought on by the salary cap, and we have seen that very few teams actually boast a full compliment of bona-fide top-six forwards on their top two lines. If the Flames manage to improve the top-line RW position this summer, then I am, all for it, but only once goaltending and defence are solidified.

Something like this I could see, but instead of Oshie I see Williams as an older, shorter term option. Massive possession driver his whole career, consistently puts up 20g/40p and is money in the playoffs.

Your not getting Stone for 3x3.
If that's the flames offer he would explore Ufa where he would get more.

Yeah, I would tend to agree. I think Stone will get at least $3.8 and a few years.

I think the Flames could get Stone for a 3 x $3.5
He gets to stay in Calgary where I'm sure his wife wants to be, and he gets more money in that contract than the rest of his 7 year career has yielded him so far combined.
Flames have him expire same time as Brodie, so they have money to give TJ a raise should they see fit at the time, and 3 years is about when you'd hope a RHD like Rasmus would be ready to take over in the top 4 (and get paid for it) plus you would hope another RHD like Fox has already been in Stockton for a year or two and ready for the big club full time.

These are all valid opinions. I would pay a bit more for Stone (3.5) but wouldn't go more than 3 years. I woudnt go any higher than 5.5x5 for Oshie. He's 30 years old. If that doesn't get it done you move on.

Totally agree. My same thinking for the 3 years. We've got some potential top 4 rhd depth in the system.

Yeah, anyone thinking Oshie, who has no connection to Calgary or Canada for that matter, is going to sign here for anything less than a massive overpayment is dreaming.

What's worth considering there is his wife + her family are from Calgary. So there might be a small hometown discount there. 3.5 though is probably minimum.
On the other hand, it's not in your place to all matter of factly fling crap at people's predictions. A few pricey contracts are coming off so the Flames will be able to spend a bit. If you're going to make yourself present on non oiler-related topics, don't be insufferable.

Oshie, Ferland, and Stone probably add another 2.5/3 million to your estimates. You have them all on very team friendly contracts.

Your right. Stone will take a million dollar haircut because he is from Calgary.

His 4m this year is an inflated at the doors to arbitration deal where it looks like $ was given instead of term. I the previous season is a Bouma sized anomaly. His previous contract off his ELC was 1.5 AAV. I don't think it is unrealistic to think he will come in around 3-3.5 with term attached.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Stone also brings that big RH shot which will be missing from the back end otherwise.
My (very early) prediction
Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Jankowski-Brouwer
Versteeg-Lazar-Hathaway
- Hamilton
- Stajan
Giordano-Hamilton
Brodie-Stone
Kulak-Andersson
- Bartkowski
Bishop-Gillies
