Thanks for the update and good to hear you're all recovering. With our guy, the first few weeks were pretty tough too. It is amazing how tough animals are and how they deal with recovery. It always made me chuckle when you could tell he just was not feeling great at all, but he'd still wag his tail like crazy when we talked to him.
One other recommendation I have is make sure you keep a bit of pain medication on hand, just in case she relapses a bit during recovery. Our vet has been great for letting us get his pains medications without having to have a check up. Taking a dog with a bad back in a car is not much fun for anyone involved and obviously doesn't help with recovery.
Anyways, positive thoughts to you and your pooch!

We didn't even get two years with this guy. Poor Louis got FIP, we had to put him down today. He would have been 5 next month.
Love you, pal.

Just said final goodbye last week to our 13 1/2 year old lab cross that we've had as part of the family since 12 weeks old . Best non human friend a guy could have had. Very emotional, but sadly, it was time. House seems strange and quiet without her.

Too young, Habernac. So very sorry for your loss. Also chedder - what a great life. So many memories for you to look back on I'm sure.

That's rough to hear.
With that mix of breeds I bet there were lots of high energy days which were enjoyed.

Hate bumping this thread but today we lost Sari rather suddenly today. She started not being herself on the weekend. Not eating, lethargic, not meowing, and appeared to have a distended abdomen. Took her to the hospital this morning and after an ultrasound the vet called with the news they found a number of masses in her and a large one in her spleen. The type of cancer is more common in dogs but can affect cats. By the time the symptoms are noticeable there is little that can be done.
This was doubly hard as my wife is in Paris having attended her grandmothers funeral last week. I was able to get in touch and we decided the best thing to do for Sari was to not wait two days for my wife to get back. It was a hard decision and I'm impressed with her for making it but it was the right decision. We needed to end her pain.
We got Sari when she was about 2 years old from The Meow Foundation almost exactly 12 years ago. The Flames were just on the cusp of making the playoffs for that magical 2004 run. Sari had many nicknames but the Flames related one was Kipperpuss as she'd stop almost any toy tossed at her.
Being in an empty house right now is weird. This plain old sucks but I keep reminding myself we saved her and gave her 12 quality years and she helped enrich our lives immensely.
Sleep well Meowpuss.
