"El Chapo" Guzman finally arrested
A serious blow to the Mexican Sinaloa cartel. Should be interesting to see how this plays out now.
"Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the boss of one of Mexico's most powerful drug trafficking operations, was arrested in Mexico, a U.S. official told CNN Saturday."

Where one leader falls, two more will pop up. Good catch I guess but it won't impact much as far as violence or distribution goes. I'd watch for a power struggle within and outside that cartel to see who takes the reigns.

Good run for a guy that escaped prison in a laundry hamper.

Perhaps, but it takes years to develop the power and control of this dude.
Unless he's thrown into a Mexican prison where business goes on as usual, this is a serious setback.

It's the demand that drives the trade which causes the void to be continually filled. I guess if you get a nasty guy at the top of the chain it can get really bad, just like a country president, etc.

Apparently they almost caught the apparent 2nd in command too.
Mexico is really turning up the heat lately on the drug cartels.

Its a major up hill battle.
I would assume there is going to be some major retaliation soon.
Someone might wake up to find his wife or kids nailed to the front door.

Not sure what your getting at. But the Cartels have been relatively safe because they bought everyone off, judges cops soldiers and politicians.
If this is a shift, then the Cartel will move onto fear tactics again.

If they don't give him the death penalty, hopefully this psychopath spends the rest of his life in solitude and is haunted by the ghosts of the thousands of victims he played a role in creating.

Mexico doesn't have capital punishment and as long as they keep paying prison guards about $20.00 a day it wont be long before he "escapes" again.

The police forces protect their identities so their families aren't killed.
