Yeah, I think with Fasth at this point what you see is what you get.

Yeah, Fasth will be 32 and Schrivens will be 28. The potential tag is gone.

It's impossible to assess the relative rebuilds right now... Vancouver still has plenty of pieces that will likely get moved. Wait until after the draft.

Dissagree, it was clear as day they'd past their prime by 2010, this organisations loyalty to Iginla gave them the wrong priorities and they missed the boat on when to start the rebuild. It is not something that should have required 20/20 hindsight.
Even if it's because there stars are asking out, it's actually forcing the Nucks to do something they should be doing, which is unfortunate for us long term.

The 15% equates to just over $1,000,000 per season.
So to sum up, you've traded 2 bonafide top 20 starting goalies, for a guy who's projected to be a 3rd line (maybe 2nd line) centre, a potential 20 goal scorer (with a current career high of 14 at age 26) and a goalie who's nowhere close to the level of 25 of the 30 current starters in the league. Oh, and you're paying $1M/year from now to the end of time.
I really though Lowe and MacTavish were the only contenders to take the alltime throne as biggest moron GM from the longtime holder Mike Milbury, but Mike Gillis is really emerging as a contender. He's so laughably bad, he should be a panelist on Sportsnet.

yep, Gillis could screw everything up in dealing our assets and we still bottom out like Edmonton is continually doing and the Flames are right now
but at least there's hope now depending on the returns, most Canucks fans are happy with that

Where do you get that math from? His cap hit is 5.3, 15% of that is $795k.
Also it sounded like they'd done this season by season, so they retain more in the first four years? Basically to offset some of the recapture penalty if he retires later, I would guess.

lmao, the thread in the trade section on HF is absolute gold! Canuck fans saying such nonsense as they won the trade and Markstrom > Luongo. A year ago Nazim Kadri+ was not fair enough value for them and now they are saying they fleeced Florida? Most ridiculous fan base ever!

If the Canucks at least play hard like the Flames and lose rather than coast like the Oilers and lose it probably will be palpable as I can honestly say it hasn't been that bad so far as being a Flames fan. Fans are smart so you can't sell only potential on its own as in the mean time you need to see a team at least play hard for the fans.

Calgarys prospect pool is far better than the canucks. So is basically every other teams.
Can't believe you actually tried to argue that.

Hate to break it to you but the Canucks are bottoming out right now, with their current core in tact. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
Trading off their proven starter and one of their top two centres is only going to see them bottom out worse. I think you should lift up the goggles and take a good look because you're in for a shocker. The Canucks are going to be terrible for years to come.

The percentage is the same every year. The actual dollars will be different each year because he gets paid a different amount each year.

I thought there was a clause in the CBA stating you couldn't retain a portion of a traded players salary. Did I miss something?

Yeah except it's the Canucks; they didn't play hard when they were good.

Tim Thomas spotted at TD Garden having a chat while prepping for start vs Bruins. He did not look like a happy man at all. Can't blame him
