Jooris is also better at PK and can be slotted in for a faceoff if necessary. Raymond is a high boards guy on the PP (I know people don't like him on the PP but Ferland wouldn't be the replacement at that spot anyway). If Ferland would ever be inserted onto a powerplay unit, he'd be a down low/net front guy and go instead of Jones, Bennett or Colborne. I don't see him over any of those three guys at the moment (or Bennett ever).
Can't say I put much weight in historical Raymond or whatever you call last year from Jooris. Ferland can win offensive puck battles and has a solid forecheck and seems to be in the right place at the right time. That's already better than the other two. And I'm not sure if they are much faster.

Sure they play different roles on the PP but would rather see Ferland out there than Raymond. Ideally neither get much time though.

Can't say I expect any of them to score much on the fourth line, I'd rather the 4th line have a strong forecheck.

Better said would be that I think he's going to be a fixture moving forward.

Me too. defensive play comes with experience, as does consistency. I don't think guys like Frolik, Jones or Stajan are bad role models for him in this regard, even though his upside is arguably higher.

Was just checking out the game day thread on the Sabres HF page.

They started calling Sam Reinhart "Muffin" haha in reference to his weak shot.

And yet, more goals this season than all but Calgary's best player...

I think Ferland is still trying to find his place... He needs to be with a couple of skilled guys maybe... someone he can build chemistry with

Tied with Mony and one ahead of Frolik and Jones.

Not saying he's bad or anything but you definitely cherry picked your stats.

Considering the Flames start to the season that's not saying much at all.

With how "pathetic" Ferland has played he still has more points than Raymond and Bollig.. Ferland adds a lot of intangibles, Raymond and Bollig add a lot of uh... space occupying

Raymond has been decent these last few games. Ferland is in a position where he needs to take it up to another notch if he wants to play a permanent role. Let him see the game from a distance and if he still doesn't figure things out, I think waiving him would be the option. Let him get his confidence back if he clears. That leaves us not having to worry about the 23 man mark and potentially not sending down Granlund when Bouma comes back.

Tonight the Flames will lose, because they should win this game.

The point debate is useless when we are talking 2 or 3 points over 15 and 19 games respectively (Raymond and Ferland), that basically the same point per game ratio and isn't even worth talking about.

While I'm much bigger Ferland fan, and have high hopes for him, not sure I'm there that he's adding any intangibles at this point for the club, which is what we need from him even more so than points. He has his moments, but so do Raymond and Bollig if we are being honest. Ferland added intangibles last year during the playoffs, can you honestly say he's doing that this year? I don't think he is. I don't expect playoff Ferland all year long, that's not sustainable, but Ferland has not been the difference maker for this club on the intangibles side yet this year that I'd hoped he'd be.

Wait this game isn't on basic cable plans?

Does that at least mean it won't be blacked out on GCL?

You can watch it but don't want to/aren't willing to pay for it. SN 360 is part of my sports package I bought.

I don't think I've ever seen an oilers jersey when they aren't playing. Tha would pretty much require incessant mocking.
