Saw a few tweets saying that Vecchione is expected to make his decision today.
I don't think any Canadian teams are in his short list.

Scoring Winger

Not a college free agent, but a CHL one.
Tyler Boland who put up 102 points and finished 2nd in QMJHL scoring, has seen his Rimouski Oceanic eliminated. He should sign soon too.

Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers
Per GM Ron Hextall, the #Flyers have signed F Mike Vecchione to an entry-level contract →
Eric Engels @EricEngels
Vecchione decision came down to Tampa and Philly. Now he's got immediate chance at centre and is reunited with Union pal Shayne Gostisbehere
It is a 1 year ELC for Vecchione, but the Flyers will burn that year and he will be a RFA.

Adirondack has signed multiple attendee to Flames development camp, Chris Dienes to an ATO.
Flames management sees something there (article from 2015):
http://www.record-eagle.com/sports/l...5a06eca68.html
Quote:
Dienes recently completed his second stint at the Flames' summer camp, where he performed well and earned valuable experience playing with and against high-level collegians, junior players and NHL prospects.
"I thought the camp went really well. I thought I played really well," said Dienes, who will be a junior at Western this season. "My fitness testing was good. There are some areas I still need to work on, but overall I thought it went pretty well."
The feedback Dienes received was positive. At the very least he's got the Flames' attention as a player to watch and evaluate going forward.
"They said they really love my game," said Dienes. "They're going to continue to watch me. (They said to) keep working on my overall development and hopefully something comes out of it."
Former Lake Superior State head coach Frank Anzalone, now a scout for Calgary, was the person who got Dienes his first invitation to the Flames' camp last summer. Then midway through this season he received an offer from the team's general manager, Brad Treliving, to return again. Dienes had an offer to attend Toronto's development camp, but Dienes opted to head west.
"I liked Calgary," he said. "They've been really good to me and I just thought I'd go back since I enjoyed the camp the first time and I thought I did well. I thought, since they extended another invite I'd be loyal and go back to them."

Interesting to watch some Avs fans fret about Will Butcher.
5th round pick in 2013 and just won the Hobey Baker and national championship, he can become an UFA on August 15.
Stats: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=97590
The reports from Denver area beat writers was that the Avs were going to offer him a contract as soon as his season was done, but so far no announcement of signing thus far.
If he does go UFA, he could potentially have his pick of teams to sign with. However the Avs with one of the weakest d-men depth in the league and given that he is from the mid-west USA would be signs that Colorado would be a good fit. Perhaps he is concerned with the direction and management of the Avs. Or perhaps just prolonged contract discussions where the Avs are being stingy on some items.

haha this is so Avalanche. Told him last year he wasn't in the plans and wouldn't be signing him, now want to sign him
http://www.denverpost.com/2017/04/01...-nhl-contract/
Quote:
A year ago, when Butcher was an alternate captain for DU at the Frozen Four in Tampa, Fla., the Avs had a team executive inform Butcher’s family adviser (agent) that the player would not be signed by the club. The message was believed to have originated with Patrick Roy, the former Avs coach and front-office executive who was not interested in using a contract for a 5-foot-10, 180-pound defenseman. But Roy resigned in August and the Avalanche showed substantial due diligence in scouting Butcher at numerous games DU home games this season.

Butcher says he will listen to Avs offer, but reading between the lines, doesn't sound like he is really considering them:
http://www.denverpost.com/2017/04/11...ning-with-avs/
Quote:
Avalanche draft pick Will Butcher, the University of Denver senior defenseman, team captain and 2017 Hobey Baker Award winner as national player of the year, is not interested in signing an entry-level contract with the Avalanche. Not now, perhaps never.
Butcher, who is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent Aug. 15 if he chooses to not sign with the Avs, said he met with Colorado general manager Joe Sakic on Tuesday and told him him he’s not signing anytime soon.
“I told him I didn’t want an offer yet,” Butcher told The Denver Post. “I wanted to sit with him, talk with him about my year, what they’re thinking, what their philosophy is going to be. My parents are coming in this weekend for the banquet, and I want to talk to my parents before they offer me anything.”
|
Quote:
Butcher, 22, said he was doing his due diligence by meeting with Sakic on Tuesday.
“He came in and gave me his whole spiel about changes in the program, going younger and everything like that. I told him I’d get back in touch with him,” Butcher said. “I’m weighing all my options right now. I want to take my time. I don’t have anything to rush into right now. I’m not going to play anywhere right now. So I might as well take my time.”

Hearing NYR will sign Min-Duluth free agent D Neal Pionk. That's a coup for them, was a lot of interest.
For the last few weeks was reported it was down to Chicago and LA. Looks like the Rangers managed to swoop in and take him.
