Officially retiring?
I'd say either announcing he's retiring at the end of the season, or tonight's game was his last.

4. Statistically speaking - the Oilers are due to lose
5. I think the Flames will develop a new 'hard work for 60' mentality to stay in games and Edmonton hasn't shown a consitent battle level over a string of games yet. If Edmonton gets outworked they will lose.

If the Oilers win, it will be after regulation.
Number 4 is incorrect. Previous games have no bearing on the likelihood of the current one. If I flip a coin and it's heads ten times in a row, it's still a 50% chance of heads on the 11th.

You're ignoring the emotional and other aspects to a sports competition that don't apply in a coin flip. A coin flips is exactly 50-50, but in sports there are many other factors in play.

Previous games do influence future games. For example, if you blow a 4-0 third-period lead to lose 5-4 in overtime, there is a good chance that result will affect a team in the next game, especially if you're playing the next night.

My gut tells me that this is his last game. Kipper could just wait until the last couple games to tell media that he is retiring at the end of the season.

Kipper might be done. I wouldn't be surprised yo see him say he's taking a personal leave for the rest of this season then he's retiring

I was responding to the "statistically speaking they've won a bunch in a row, therefore they're due to lose". I get the rest, only meant that statistics aren't the reason

Well.... here's to Kiprusoff perhaps playing next year in vintage style for the Flames! Why the hell not? If Brodeur can do it, so can Kipper.

If not, here's to 'Awesome' Joey MacDonald taking the starting position. I actually really like the guy, 33 years old and trying like hell to get the starting job.

Yup, Joey is definitely trying to prove himself as a capable option for the Flames next year.

so... after all the "excitement" today

Tanguay - Cammalleri - Stempniak
Glencross - Stajan - Horak
Hudler - Backlund - Cervenka
McGrattan - Begin - Jackman

Giordano - Wideman
Brodie - Butler
Babchuk - Sarich

MacDonald
Kipper

?

Was really thinking the lineup would look a bit different after today for the rest of the year. Guess I'll need to wait until October.

he'll be back. tough luck on the injury and he'll be back to old kipper like always.

Well assuming we actually have a defense that isn't as butler.

I wish more had happened today...but at the end of this season's trades, I'm happy with what has been done. It puts the team on the right path in my eyes...

...but man, it's still a sour thought to know your favourite hockey team is complete and utter dog doodoo on the ice and will be for a while longer.

I hope the Flames squash the Oilers tonight. It'll help keep St. Louis in the playoffs.

never EVER lose to the oilers...and those of you actively cheering for a loss? Makes you a loser by definition.

Their top foward is gone
Their top blueliner is gone
And they tried to trade their number one goalie.

Those are much bigger pieces then if they had moved 6 depth players.

I'd like to see the Flames remain near the bottom but plenty of OTHER games to lose.

Hopefully the pressure and distractions are off the guys now and they can go out and play a good game.

I want to WIN this game badly. we can loose all other games but Oiler games. plus it will help the blues out from being pressured from the Oilers, I want this years pick!!!! for 2 reasons- great draft this year and I think next year the blues will be higher in standings giving us a worst 1st round pick. please make it happen
