GAME 2: Ottawa at STAMPEDERS (Rematch)
Game Time: Thursday, June 29th @ 7:00pm
McMahon Stadium
Televised: TSN, ESPN3
Back-to-back game between Ottawa Redblack and the Calgary Stampeders. Game 1 ended up in a pretty entertaining tie 31-31 in Ottawa.
OFFENSE:
Bo Levi Mitchell threw a couple of touchdown passes and ended up throwing for 376 yards with no interception. The total yardages could have been higher if it wasn't for some dropped passes by 3 of their reliable receivers in Davaris Daniels, Marquay McDaniel and Kamar Jorden.
Davaris Daniels with 4 receptions for 90 yards. Unfortunately he left the game in the 3rd quarter due to injury. Daniels were thought to have a serious injury will only miss a few games. Marquay McDaniel was the leading receiver last game with 10 catches for 114 yards. With Daniels out for tomorrow's game, look for an increase playing time for two Canadian receivers Lamar Durant and Juwan Brescacin. Both players played well especially late in the game.
RB Roy Finch will miss a couple of games due to suspension(drug-related) so Calgary will dress RB Terry Williams and maybe WR Marken Michel to take care of the return duties. Williams who had a great pre-season game against the Eskimos will also do some running back duties backing up Messam.
The Patch-up Offensive Line did a pretty good well protecting Bo Levi, did not surrender any QB sack.
DEFENSE:
I don't think the Defensive Line as a group were happy with their performance last week. They gave up over a 100 yards Redblack's running back Gillanders and Powell earlier in the game but were good late in the game. Look for a few QB sacks on tomorrow night's game. There wasn't a lot of pressure on Trevor Harris also aall night.
LB Maleki Harris did a good job filling in for LB Deron Mayo but could be better. CB Tommi Campbell will be back in the lineup tomorrow. Secondary definitely missed both Campbell and Brandon Smith but they didn't do too bad. Jamar Wall had a important interception late in the game. Without that INT, Ottawa would have scored and win it for Ottawa. CB Patrick Levels came so close of being the hero during the OT period. If he didn't drop the ball on that interception attempt, they could have won it.
SPECIAL TEAM
I guess the only disappointing part on the special team is the field goal miss by K Rene Paredes on the OT period tht could have given the Stams the win.
Injuries to report:
Too many injuries this early this season. I guess on the positive, it is better to have them now than late in the season when every win is very important.
OL: Pierre Lavertu, Roman Grozsman, Quinn Smith
RB: Anthony Woodson(undisclosed), Roy Finch(2-games suspensions)
R: Davaris Daniels, Rory Kohlert, Jarrett Boykin
DL: Cordarro Law(ankle), Ja'Gared Davis(undisclosed-game time decision), Junior Turner.
LB: Deron Mayo, Beau Landry
DB: Brandon Smith, Osagie Odiasse
GO STAMPS GO!!!!

I am in town for long weekend and going to first Stamps game in forever. Bringing my son.
How big a deal is it to sit on sunny vs. shady side at McMahon for evening game?
I think my last visit to McMahon was for the Heritage classic, where every section was frigid.

Evenings in June here can still feel a bit chilly if there is a northerly wind ... if tomorrow evening is anything like tonight ... it will be warmer on the sunny side by the second half.

You'll certainly notice a difference sitting on the sunny side by the 2nd half, remember to bring sunglasses though. Hope the weather holds up for tonight, really looking forward to the game!

Ok, going to my first CFL game. Actually, this will be the 2nd game I've ever watched.
What can i expect tonight? How long will the entire thing be? Will there be anything special considering its a home opener?
I have a 2-year old, will be get annoyed?

probably about 2 hours 45 minutes
Home opener, should be low key we didn't win the cup last year. Player intro's some fireworks, probably a fly over of some kind, hopefully CF-18's
I think your two year old should be fine, except for the noise.

should be no surprises on either side as both teams now have a week of tape under their belt.
The argument is, well we saw preseason games. But its tough to prepare by watching vanilla game plans and vanilla defenses being played by players that you will never see again.
You tend to hope in game one that you can surprise them on offense, and your defensive personal are soooo amazing and your scheme is so devastating that you don't care what they run, they will just fail.
the Stamps really need this win (notice that I didn't say that this was a must win)
Because of how the Stamps talked about being fired up about facing Ottawa in game one then they came out completely flat
Also because we don't want Ottawa in their head when they're pasting everyone else this year.

Thinking of going to the game but it'll be last minute. I'll be able to go to the box office at the stadium last minute and get tickets no problem hey?

Nice to see Durant back and catching balls, he took a heck of a shot over the middle in the last series.
