Per NHL, Hartley's fine "issued in accordance with By-Law 17.3 (a) for conduct prejudicial to or against the welfare of the League." #Flames
basically the NHL placing blame for the whole line brawl at Hartley's feet

It's the right call, but I didn't see why everyone made such a fuss about it in the first place.
Would the Flames really be that much worse off without Engelland? They'd lose out in the toughness department for sure, but I think Wotherspoon would be at least as competent as a defenceman.

That's a very loosey goosey rule that kind of let's the league do whatever they want, oh well I'm sure Hartley and the Flames brass feel it was money well spent.

Well now the Caucks just made it personal. fine definitely was just for putting out guys that could stir things up. but thats what you do when the game is out of reach and your team isnt in it emotionally. canucks just took the bait and dirtied it up.

That fine is excessive.

Is there a league paid bonus for the Jack Adams? Might come in handy for Bob right about now.

Jesus, I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but are you for real? Sorry, but if don't understand at this point what a huge loss Engelland would be to this team after how he's played for us down the stretch, then I just have no idea what to say.......

Have you not been watching?
DE has been a freaking godsend since Giordano got injured. Look at his numbers.
I get some people need a whipping boy to feel good about themeselves, but what the hell does a guy have to do to get some respect?

The NHL's release also mentions Hartley as being fine before (i.e. the Tortorella incident).

If I am Derek Engelland, I am passing the coffee can around the room tomorrow, and asking for some donations...lol. $2000 a player, and they have it covered.

What a B.S. fine. That rule was made so that you didn't put out a goon line for the sole purpose of going out and just running guys. Obviously the way everything played out was organic and spontaneous. The Nucks started the pushing and shoving and things then escalated.
What a crock!
What about the Hamhuis suspension? Any word on that LOL What a joke
