Prices on video cards are dropping, I ordered a Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080 from NCIX for $630 this morning. This is one of the better 1080 cards.
Now I just need to find a sensible 34" ultra wide monitor. Hopefully before Mass Effect unlocks.

I feel like its mostly a high intensity FPS thing. Other games i don't get cold hands but CS, OW, BF etc my hands turn to ice pretty fast. It's why you see pros crack out heat pads in tournaments.
Hard camping games like R6:S are the worst for this.

I generally always have warm hands. But yet my hands get cold while PC gaming. I wonder why that is?
And yes, you are a nerdlord. In the most endearing way possible of course.

Been looking to get a RX 480 from memory express to finish my upgrade...
Is there a certain one I should get? Or are they all pretty much the same?? The $30-40 won't break the bank if the higher prices ones are actually quieter/better/more reliable company.
Any thoughts?

Or as I call it, gamers hand. You know you've likely been kicking some e-butt if you have the icey hands of the undead.

Would like to piece one together from MemEx vs getting a pre-built one from BB or something.
If I wander into MemEx would they put together some suggestions for me? Not looking for anything fancy, just something that will last a while (and that I can actually upgrade) and won't choke on Lightroom or editing GoPro video.
Alternatively if any CPers have thoughts on a decent build the help would be appreciated.

Any thoughts on this build?
- Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini-ITX Case
- Intel i7 6700K 4.00 GHz [8MB Cache]
- Asus Z170I PRO GAMING w/ DDR4 2133
- 32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Ram (2x16)
- Samsung 850 EVO M.2 2280 SSD (500GB)
- Seagate 2TB FireCuda Sata III/64 MB Cache (x2)
- ASUS GeGorce GTX 1050 Ti
Pieced that together under $2k. Overkill for what I'm doing? Can I get a better bang for my buck?

I literally just built a PC like 2 months ago using very similar components. The elite 110 is a nice case but it was not very fun to work with it. I hope you have a modular power supply (although the vast majority of power supplies are modular these days).
32GB of RAM is overkill. You could safely drop to 16GB and basically have zero performance loss.
1050 Ti is extremely underpowered compared to the rest of your build.
Personally I have one of these http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX63114
but there are even some 1070's that are mini-ITX compatible for even more power.
What kind of CPU cooler are you getting? Remember your clearance is tiny.
Anyways here's a pic just to know what you're getting into!

Might as well get the 7700K since it's a new system.
Not a huge fan of the hybrid hard drives, especially in a system that already has an SSD. The hybrids cache frequently used files onto their NAND portion, but a typical SSD/HDD system has the OS and frequent files already on the SSD, and less used or non-transfer-speed-sensitive files on the HDD. I might get a regular HDD (I like Hitachi drives) and shift the saving over to a larger SSD if possible.
Any reason getting 2 HDDs? Going to mirror them for redundancy?

I would recommend the 4GB variant. It's usually $50 or more cheaper, and the performance difference is negligible.
What resolution do you game at? If it's 1080p, then the 4GB is more than enough. If it's any higher, then the RX 480 itself is underpowered.

Won't be doing much to it. Likely HDD swap, or upgrades down the road. Going to have MemEx do the initial build. Forgot the power supply . No preference. Noted though, I'll look at some other cases.

Even for handling large RAW files, etc? Haha I was originally looking at 64.

Didn't even notice that was a hybrid, just saw the larger cache size. I'll definitely look at the Hitachi. Was just staying away from WD.

Negative. Shooting in RAW my photos are taking up a ton of space. Was going to use one drive for photos, the other drive would be all music, video, documents, etc. SSD keeps OS and current year's photo library (as I'm editing those more than old ones).

Might just want to get a larger drive instead of 2 drives, two drives is twice the failure risk. EDIT: And think about your backups too, what are you going to do for backups.
I went with 32GB of RAM but I run virtual machines. And when I got mine RAM was cheaper too.
How large are the RAW files I guess is the question.. if they'll fit entirely in RAM with 32GB but not with 16GB it might be worth it, or might be worth seeing if someone with the same kind of work has done any comparison benchmarking.
If you're not doing any gaming I guess the question is does the photo and video editing software leverage the GPU or not, I don't do enough of that to know. If it does then which one might make a big difference.

Good point about failure rate, maybe a partitioned 4 would be better. Or do 2x4TB in a RAID?
For backups I have 2 3TB externals, and photos go to cloud as well.
Yes, Lightroom can now leverage the GPU as far as I understand.

Two drives in an array mirrored is ok for redundancy, it helps prevent downtime and hassle in the case of hardware failure, but don't depend on it for a backup.
The question generally is does the extra cost of having a 2nd mirrored drive offset the cost of running out to the store and get a new 4TB drive and doing restores to be back up and running.
Because mirroring doesn't protect against corrupt files, human error, setting the computer on fire, malware, voltage spikes, etc.

Amazon Cloud Storage is only 60 bucks a year for unlimited space, so your RAW files would never cap it.

RAW files are under 30 megabytes. Now if you're doing 4K video editing, maybe that's where RAM would help.
If you're gonna make Mem Ex suffer, then the 110 is a perfectly fine case. I really like it because it's tiny, but just if I ever want to play around inside it it's such a pain in the ass. For example, I re-seated my heatsink, but to do so, I had to take out the power supply, which meant that half the cables had to be disconnected, which led to having to remove the GPU before I could do a simple task. If you're not doing any of that, then the Elite 110 is awesome.
If you're not gaming at all then the 1050 Ti is fine.

To update, did a bit of poking around the Adobe forums. For what Lightroom can utilize for the GPU, the cost/performance ratio seems to max out at the 1050, however other people echoed your comment as well. I think I'll go with the 1060 Turbo. Sounds like it is more than Adobe needs now, but a good choice for future software upgrades.

For those that are building new PCs is it good to advice those people to wait for AMDs video card offering before purchasing a video card? Or have the specs for the 10X0 cards surpassed anything that AMD will offer?
