I really appreciate all of the advice - I've been looking forward to this all season. Here's hoping the boys show up for more than just five minutes tonight...
10th row! Nice! Enjoy! And enjoy Calgary! I grew up in Banff, you can see the mountains from the city if you get a clear enough day

The Dome has an amazing atmosphere, I hope you get to take it all in. If you happen to see a guy named Roger in a cook's hat, tell him his cousin in Newfoundland says hi

Oh, after you're done, hit up 17th Avenue (my neighborhood). Lots of great options for bars, like Ship and Anchor, Home&Away (cool sports bar), Trolley 5, etc. and maybe grab Tubby Dog at the end of the night. Have a great night!

I have been a fan since I really discovered hockey in 2003 (pretty good timing for a Flames fan), and have been hooked (thanks to Center Ice) ever since. I have lurked at CalgaryPuck for many years now.

I'm flying up from Seattle tomorrow morning for the game tomorrow evening and flying home Sunday - but wanted to see if there are any pre-game spots or things that I just can't miss...I am meeting with some friends for lunch but otherwise just hanging out downtown...would love any recommendations.

Thanks everyone!
Happy for you! Trust me!It was unbeliavable for me in 2011, when I was in CGY for the first time in my life. I had also long journey from Czech republic :-) First game was unreal, amazing, that feeling that I am at the Saddledome finally was MAGICAL! It was the dream come true, literally. Something I will never forget. Each and every game from those 10 I attended together during my 2 stays in 2011 and 2014 at the Saddledome was special for me, but always the first time is the time you remember the most!Saddledome is the nicest building in the world for me!!!! Really happy for you, I am looking forward to this game a lot, now even more! Want our Flames to make you happy! ENJOY!

Alarm is set, 4 am!

GO FLAMES!

Greetings from Czech republic.

A special place in my heart just cried out from homesickness. So many special memories and great nights at the ship. I've been in some great cities and I've still yet to find a comparable bar to it.

Your post literally gave me the shivers I love going to games so much, will still try to make one this year but it's difficult when I live in Newfoundland. I shouldn't complain, though, since you're in Czech Republic! I thought games starting at 1230am were tough to watch!

Go Flames!

Duttons is a cool little spot to checkout after the game for some drinks. Located by the West Entrance of the Dome. Always crawling with hotties. Cowboys Casino is also great and really close.

No love for the Saddledome nachos? While I definitely love me a good pocket dog from time to time and the malt (get the twist) dessert is not to be missed, there is simply no greater thing than Dome Nachos with jalapenos, salsa, and an extra scoop of that thermonuclear molten plastic cheese. For me the nachos are an essential part of the Saddledome experience.

Admittedly this is starting to be a lot of food. Maybe don't eat anything else all day then just gorge yourself at the game?

ENJOY!!

If you see numerous people wearing Oilers jerseys and sweat pants, don't be alarmed; they are just a simple people who don't know better.

Have a great time at the game! Go Flames Go!

Get one of those beers that fills from the bottom up and then resist the urge to poke the plug. Good times.

Seriously though spend some time to walk around the arena and take in the memorabilia and history.

I hope your first experience of the Saddledome is as memorable as mine.

Hull failed to hit a milestone for goals. My favourite goaltender as a kid got the start for Detroit. Martin Gelinas did hit a career milestone.

The Flames won. It was awesome. Bring from the east coast being around other Flames fans was really weird.

Oh, the Flames that shoot out above the end zones after the Flames score are really hot. I didn't know they were there, was a big surprise.

Ironically I'm going to my first Flames road game on Monday (first Flames game in 12 years).

Enjoy. It's a really cool experience.

Don't forget about the live Flames game saddledome tradition of exposing yourself with exactly 11:11 to go in the second period.

Don't worry if at first it seems like others aren't participating, some people are slow to remember. Make sure you stand up and make yourself visible to encourage others to join in.

That's awesome.

I had forgotten how good Russ Peake was at that job it's been so long.

Hope the old dog does a bang up job!

And to the OP...enjoy your night as there is something very magical about attending your first NHL game. It was 44 years ago for me and i still remember it like it was yesterday. Of course it always helps when the good guys win.
