Definitely. 2005 would have been more anticipated but the brutal lockout stole that year. I think on top of what you said just the fact we made playoffs after thinking we were fighting for McDavid has amped things up even more.
When the Iggy trade happened in 2013 this season was the earliest I thought we could start competing. That was assuming Mackinnon, Ekblad, and McDavid may all fall into the Flames lap.
Monahan, Bennett, and Hamilton are very nice pieces though which we acquired on those 3 drafts. Having guys like Backlund, Brodie, Bouma, Ferland all pan out was a huge help in speeding things up. Gio also elevating from a solid top 4 guy to an rite franchise Dman was also a major factor.
I can't believe how quickly this team has turned it around.

Flames didn't want to pay the stampede to rent out the usual space because they worried that too many people would be at Fort Calgary, so instead of doing both they moved it inside

Throughout the summer we've had lots of debates and disagreements on CP.
The best thing about today, we are all energized, distracted at work, and I hope we can all agree to cheer on the Flames to kick the sh** out of the Nucks.
