As you know we've had netflix down here for a while. Every day I hear someone else complaining about the streaming , so they are switching to DVD by mail only. We just got another price hike, so I guess that's a good part of the bitching. I keep streaming because I gave up cable. The disc HD quality is better- I have a 42" plasma and the streaming is okay. Most of my streaming is TV reruns because there is not much in the streaming movie selection that interests me.

However that's probably because i watched all those already

I wouldn't trust the mail carriers to get the DVDs to me in time and unscratched.

How does the DVD mail thing work? Do you have to ship it back to Netflix when your finished watching it? Who pays for shipping, and how long can you keep it for?

Shipping is covered in your monthly fee to Netflix.

You can return the movie whenever you like. Before you watch it, right after you watch it or 6 months later.

With my US Netflix account I can access the Canadian Netflix programming if I use a computer that isn't set up with the DNS server settings. Is the same true for Canadian accounts accessing US Netflix? i.e. If you already have a Canadian account could you then sign up for www.unblock-us.com (the former usvideo.org) or similar and essentially use the US Netflix? If so that would avoid the US credit card mailing address issues involved with signing up to the US Netflix in the first place.

Does anyone know why some movies seem to be promoted on the lists more than others? It seems a lot of movies are almost hidden in Netflix (only showing up in a specific search), while others show up in just about every list.

Anyways, the selection has gone back to lousy imo. I thought some of the October 1st releases were good, but I cant seem to find anything interesting lately.

ps. where the heck is season 2 of californication already???

I first watched Breaking Bad last Thanksgiving when my wife was out of town for 3 days. 3 days she was gone, and I watched all 3 seasons and had lots of time left over. One you start you just dont want to stop.

on their website I can browse what they have, however is there an actual list of content?

I'm curious to just go through it and see what's there before I sign up. I don't want to sign up and think "crap this sucks" I want to make an informed decision.

Additionally I know I can search and be like "do you have X?" Mind you if I don't think of the show I won't know to look for it.

So, yeah. Is there a content list anywhere?

Have you done the trial yet? Why not try it and see for yourself and cancel if you don't like it.

So essentially what you're telling me is that you have to sign up in order to see a list of content, that they don't release what they carry to the public unless you specifically ask for each show/movie individually?

That's absolutely ridiculous.

That's like saying "I have this great product that does wonderful things and will make your life better" and when asked what it does the sales person saying "well ask me, and if it does that one particular thing I'll tell you".

Does it cook?

"Yes but I won't tell you what unless you ask for the individual dish"

Does it clean?

"Yes but somethings not others again I won't tell you what it cleans unless you specifically ask"

Does it do laundry?

"Not all clothing but again I won't tell you which ones unless you give me your personal information".

WTF? Just tell me what the thing does

Pretty much, I agree the library should be visible without logging in.

I've started to notice this as well. Even a show I was watching regularly (Better off Ted) disappeared from my "Recently Watched" and I had to search for it. Does anyone know of a site that lists all the Netflix Canada movies that are available?
