I say spend $ on size and skill up front. Don't spend big $ on a goalie as i seems doesn't matter what goalie we have they tend to not play well in Calgary, aside from Kipper.

The only goalie in this league who may have less confidence than Elliott is Fleury, so this concerns me.

But it would also concern me if they went after Bishop and gave him a big, post-30 contract.

Not sure why you would say that as he's up 3-0 in his series. Flames have been sniffing around him for a while now and I don't think they will want to commit long term to a guy like Bishop with Gillies looking to be ready to at least start backing up in a season.

New GM, new Coach. Time for a shake up. You don't think they entertain the idea of seeing what they could get for Quick, if they could re-sign Bishop?

Edit: Never mind. Just looked it up, and Quick is 5.8M cap hit for 6 more years (until he's 37). Do not want.

its a tough call... i was behind Elliot post Christmas... but he's metastasized back into Fall Elliott...

not sure who to sign, but not keen on Elliott..

i'd kick the tires on Bishop at least to see what he's looking for

He's playing for a Pens team that is on fire.

He had been consistently seen as a playoff choker.

Elliott may be the league's streakiest goalie. He's either lights out like he was in February and March or he plays like complete garbage like he did to start the season and he has in recent weeks. I think whether or not they bring him back depends on whether they think Gillies is ready for the NHL. If he is, they could do worse than a Gillies-Elliott tandem. If he isn't, then they should go out and get another goalie, because neither Elliott nor Johnson are starters at the NHL level.

Except for winning the Cup. So... no, not consistently.

Maybe but I would rather take my chances with two years of him than five years of Bishop or two years of Elliott.

Not all that happy seeing Allen completely shut down the Wild too. Elliott was better than Allen in StL.

Elliott, MAF, Bishop... if you choose one of those, choose the cheapest.

If you can acquire someone like Grubauer you might as well try finding the diamond in the rough.

No matter what, I think Gillies should take the backup role (which opens an AHL spot for Parsons).

I'm afraid this series will result in the Flames going long term with a guy like Bishop.

Find the fattest human on earth, sit him in front of the goal. Probably could cover a good 80% of the net.

This team needs a veteran goalie they can depend on, and someone who can rebound from a bad game or goal without visibly losing their confidence.

Not many trade assets in this organization so whoever it is, has to come cheap.

And please no big money UFA.

Too many unknown variables with the expansion draft.

Have to see where the chips fall in the off season.

Bishop or MAF will be another Elliott.

Didn't Wong try to put a sumo wrestler in goal for the NYI? Or is that an old wive's tale?
