New Flames Uniforms for 2017-2018 due to be revealed June 20th

This thread was quite the roller coaster of emotions this afternoon. I was pages behind, within 10min I went from the ecstasy of the NHL18 "leak" revealing retro colours, to the disappointment of that Flames Twitter spoiler clearly showing a black C. Retros confirmed to black C confirmed in a matter of minutes is a kick in the pants..

I'm just curious, where are all these large swaths of people who apparently prefer the black C? Agreed this site doesn't speak for all Flames fans, but Twitter, or even when I'm on the train, oot & aboot at an event or party, in the work place, etc, the vast majority of Flames fans I meet prefer the retros. Is this apparent large black C majority feeling shamed into silence, or are they all locked in a room together with KK somewhere? I don't get it, where are they, and how come I never meet them?

I am fine with the black C. It is the other dumb stuff (piping, flags) that are the bigger problems esthetically.

I slightly prefer the black flaming C over the white flaming C. If the horizontal striping is replaced with vertical striping and the black piping is removed from the Adidas jersey, then I'll likely buy one. I can accept the flags if they are still there as I am both a proud Canadian and Albertan.

I predict the retro red returns as our third jersey in 2018-2019.

I've always liked the black C. I have never minded a bit of black on a jersey. It heightens the contrast for me.

I like the black 'C' mostly because it's hard to get Dome cheese out of the white logo when you are a klutzy eater like me!

The black C looks good when done in moderation. Throw in unnecessary black piping, striping down each side, and a blue (!) flag patch, and now you've lost me.

Given what CSEC did with the Stampeders when Adidas took over last year, I'd be fine if they took the third jerseys (circa 2013 to 2016) and replaced the wordmark with just the black C. You could keep everything else the same (including the shoulder patches) and it would still be an improvement on the current version.

There was a rumor that Reebok wanted a rather large horse logo on the black jersey a few years ago and CSEC vetoed it and went with the traditional numbers front and back. So there is hope they veto some things...

don't forget that Fanatics will be making the replica jerseys too which also mean they may look slightly different than the Adidas Authentic versions

I believe I read that Authenticator will run $200 USD and Fanatics will go for $150 USD.

At those prices, I think I'll be opting for the authentic - but we'll see.

I am now hoping for the 2004 jerseys but with the shoulder patch from the recent thirds.

To be honest I'm actually open to the black C jersey, even though I've long been a huge 'ditch the black' kinda guy. I actually do really like the red jersey with the black C, I just wish it wasn't slapped together by what looks like a child in MS Paint, which is what our current set looks like.

I think this has potential to be a pretty sweet uniform if done tastefully. I also think (just a hunch based on how much they talk about it) there's a reluctance to go retro because that's what the Oilers did, and we basically want to distance ourselves from any decision that organization does.

I like the retro, but the black can be incorporated in a nice way. Like others have said if you ditch the crap striping, flags and piping... and go to more / less what we had in '04... that's a slick uniform really. Maybe trade horsehead side patch for the new C circle mountain thing, it'd be nice.

Also kinda interesting point on that icethetics.co website, which is always a great place for uniform updates. Talks about how on the Golden Knights new logo, there's actually an inset black inscribe along the black part of the logo, and it can be seen both in the new jerseys and on their logo release last November.
