Exactly. People go to Edmonton because they have to (family, shopping, proximity) they go to Calgary because they want to.

If you moved the legislature & government jobs from Edmonton to Calgary, what's left? The University, the shadow of the penitentiary, the gas light fires of the refinery, 10 years burning down a road, nowhere to run to, and nowhere to go?

there's a lot of uninformed and, frankly, stupid posts in this thread...but this one has to be in the fight for number one.

True. He forgot the little dumpster fires contained within the greater dumpster fire that is Edm.

+1 on that point. There's a reason I've come here for hockey related discussions for almost 15 years.

As for city rivalries - I'm just looking forward to Vegas fans touting the greatness of their hotels after a night in the Sandman by Crack Mac's whilst in Cowtown to watch their beloved Golden Knights.

Will be interesting to see how other teams play McDavid this year. Everyone will be anticipating his speed game and will try to wear him down. His durability will depend on his ability to remain elusive.

look at what Anaheim did to him in the playoffs, they took away his ability to wind up his speed in the neutral zone and they positionally played him to the outside.

If I was coaching against him, that and a healthy dose of the Sid Treatment, little slashes and little cheap shots, punches in the scrums.

The Refs pretty much ignored his dives in the playoffs last year and made him play hockey and throughout the playoffs, even against San Jose he was ordinary.

I guess the Oilers could make him put on some muscle and weight but does that effect his greatest weapon which is his speed?

A city with a higher percentage of jobs that fall into legislative and government branches would be expected to have a lower unemployment rate. Especially in time of bad economic conditions, since private sectors are more likely to be cutting jobs due to the poor Oil & Gas conditions than the public sector would be.

How do you say long term holdout in German?

Ich werde nicht im Trainingslager sein,
oh und Edmonton ist nicht gut.
