With Episode 8 still 3 and a half months away, Lucasfilm today announced that Colin Trevorrow will not be directing Episode 9 after all.

Quote:
Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.

The online fan reaction seems to range from very happy to absolutely overjoyed.
I wonder if this opens the door for Johnson or Abrams to return to complete the trilogy, or if they have someone else in mind? The timing seems like it would work perfectly for Johnson to transition from post-production on 8 to pre-production on 9.

Why you ugly m%%%%%%%%%%
Still think its uncanny that he bears a physical resemblance to
Its one theory making its rounds, that adds onto Snoke is a con using Kylo and his force powers to hold onto power.
It would make sense
Valorum was the last Supreme Chancellor, he was basically deposed by Palpatine in the ultimate con. Valorum sits back and watches Palpatine drive the galaxy into the ground and create the Empire. Palpatine falls down a well and Valorum see's the New Republic doing the exact same thing that lead to its fall into the Empire. He decides that more extreme measures are needed and rallies the faltering Empire into the First Order with the message that "The corruption that lead to the fall of the Senate can't happen again". Finds his own Vader in Kylo and seduces him to the "Right Side" of the conflict.
Gives him the most rudimentary training that he's gotten from history or books or whatever.
Voila we have a new Emperor that wants nothing more then to bring peace by force to the Galaxy and remove corruption.

Except that Valorum was a normal human size and Snoke is 7+ feet tall.

I think that size matters not.
I'm halfway fooling and throwing webs here. I doubt very much that its Valorum, I just like the thought that unlike the Original Trilogy where the emperor was really the biggest evil and threat that in this one the roles reverse and Kylo Ren becomes the big bad, and Snoke was using him and got caught.
for all we know on the size thing is its Valorum standing on a servants shoulders wearing a robe.

Snoke is Snoke.
And probably not Gallus Rex either.
EDIT: We all know Snoke is actually Ezra Bridger

Honestly I got through the second book of the Aftermath series and just quit, It was too badly written and not that exciting, but I never thought Rex was going to be Snoke because half the audience in the theatre would say who the frack is that?
And yeah, I do think Snoke is Snoke, I just don't think it makes sense to make him an all powerful force user.
And he can't be Ezra Bridger cause Ezra will be dead.

And that kid is rightfully pissed!
He's little dbag anakin's bff, helps him build his pod racer but then when the race is won and they're good to go, the ahole jedi just up and leave the kid alone in slavery. And you just know he's gonna get twice as many beatings since his master's gonna be pissed that he lost his wonderchild.

That makes sense, add on to that his anger at being named Kitster, going through the slave schools on Tatooine being given Wedges and having his head dunked in the sand toilets and even the nerds making fun of him.
"Its the Kitster, the Kit, the Kitster lamma Ding dong" . . . "NERD!".
Eventually he escaped his slavery and became an expert in the art of making models for the Galactic Television networks movie division where he became known as Kitster . . . the Kit guy.
He ate his resentment, swearing one day man one day they'd get theirs.
Then he found out that his best friend growing up became Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith and he hatched his plan. He fled and changed his name, he needed something cool, something that defined Power and Galactic conqueror.
So one day he was citing outside smoking a Death Stick and one of the station executives said "Hey nerd, you shouldn't smoke, it'll kill you . . . NERD"
And he was inspired, after killing the Executive he'd found his new name Snoke, because he'd never cleaned all of the sand out of his ears.
And a Galactic Despot was born.

Has anyone picked up any of the Journey to The Last Jedi books? Can't say I'm that into the Phasma book, but I did get Claudia Grey's Leia book. Excited to start that soon.

Yeah Trevorrow managed to take a dump on the JP franchise with CGI cornfest that was Jurassic World, even after the underwhelming JP3. Yes, it generated a historic amount of money, but that was solely because it had the JP name on it, not because of the quality of the film. I mean sure, as far as 2015 action movies go, it would be pretty average. But compared to the rest of its franchise...
We didn't need that happening with Star Wars too. Let's hope they give us a nice surprise with the replacement.

Its weird because maybe I'm burned out on Star Wars a bit
Me at 10 when I saw the first ad for ANH - "OMG OMG OMG, Dad, Dad, we're going"
Me at about 13 when Empire was coming out - "OMG the first one was awesome, I have to stand in line on night one"
Me when Phantom Menace was announced - "YES, this is awesome, Star Wars is back, day one baby!!!"
Me when TFA awakens was announce - Earth's orbit destabilized by me fist punp"
Today - "Guess I'll wait a couple of weeks for the heat to die down on it then go"

Chris Terrio is also attached to write the script. Who is Chris Terrio? The same man who wrote Batman V Superman and Justice League. I loved BvS so I'm pumped; general audiences however not so much.

I'm very similar. I was first in line (well maybe 15th) to get into the special edition releases. For TFA and Rogue One I waited a week to 10 days. I hate the crowds and the rush more than I love Star Wars. But really, its going to be in the theaters for a while, why rush to be the first to see it? It will be the same movie on opening day as it is one month later. I don't have to deal with as many people by waiting. I'm going to enjoy it more by waiting. Why not wait?
