Default Jays game in Toronto - advice needed

We're looking at taking my grandpa to a few ball games in September (huge Jays fan but hasn't seen a major league game before).

I don't watch baseball, and am wondering where in the stadium would be a good place to sit to watch the game. Keep in mind we'll just be getting them off ticketmaster, so it's not like we'll be getting front row seating...

Thanks!

If you are going to a few games, I would suggest that get tickets in different areas of the stadium each game for a variety of sightlines and experiences. Sounds like a great time awaits you!

Typically the most popular spots are along the 1st and 3rd base line, further out you go the worse the seats. Or behind home plate.

Really depends on how much you want to spend too.

I don't know if this will link properly, it is the ticketmaster map of skydome.

http://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/100..._Tickets-na-x0

I'd go for anything between sections 129 to 114.

1st base or behind home plate. 3rd is ok but the majority of the action is along 1st. At the dome te jays are on the 3rd base side so keep that in mind. Toronto is easy to get good tickets to most of the games. The Yankees and Boston aren't quite as easy since a lot of fans make the drive to TO for the series since its easier to get tickets and ends up cheaper

If you're going to a couple of games, with your grandpa who is a huge fan, I would maybe suggest splurging - i.e. spending more to get good seats down where the people in this thread have suggested - for a game or so. Otherwise, and this is coming from a HUGE baseball fan myself, and having been to a number of games there, for basically peanuts you can sit behind homeplate, up nearish the top (of the stadium) and they are still ok seats/sight lines. It really depends on your budget, but honestly its a pretty good value considering the price there - and leaves more money available, if you would like, for food/drinks or perhaps the ability to buy your grandpa a souvenir or something. Cheers.

The 500 level seats are cheap but don't sit there. Brutal baseball experience, way too high.

Never pay full price for baseball tickets unless it will be a guaranteed sell out. Buy from stub hub or scalpers. Season ticket per game price for baseball is crazy low compared to single game tickets. So even people scalping tickets you will get them for less then ticketmaster

You'll get cheaper, better tickets just going to the stadium and buying tickets off the guys by the hot dog stands then on Ticketmaster

^ I remember doing that in the Mid 90's travelling to Seattle to see the Jays in Kingdome, great seats (different locations game 1, 2) game 3 (also prebooked months in advance) I went way the hell up...and it turned out to be Randy Johnson on the hill and he K'd 16....would have been nice to watch it lol.

I went to a three game series against the Yankees a few years ago and got seats in different parts of the Stadium.

Once behind the Empire, once along the 1st base line and once from center field.

Its almost like watching a different sport each time.

Make sure that the old man is quick along the first base line, when I was there quite a few balls came screaming into the crowd.

Also the food prices and beer prices were absolutely stupid when I went there so take whatever your food budget is and times it by 3

The last game I went to I sat 17th row behind home plate. Bar none the best seats I've been in at the Rogers Centre, and for $62 you can't go wrong.

If you're grandpa's a baseball enthusiast, I highly recommend watching a game from behind home plate. Along the 1st base/3rd base line you just don't get the same feel pitch to pitch that you do behind home plate.

Depends on what you want to watch. Its great sitting behind home plate if you really want to follow the pitcher batter battles. If your low enough you also get a lot of the verbal battles and the pure sounds of the game like ball to glove and bat to ball.

If you want to watch fielding and base running, then absolutely the first or third base line.

If you want to watch the overall flow of the game, then sit in the outfield.

Depends where in the 500s you sit. I get tickets in section 524 every time I go, and I find it to provide a great view.

Thanks to everyone who has posted! I'm probably going to look for something along 1st base, and something in the lower bowl behind the plate.

Follow up question, how easy is it to get from the airport to the stadium? Is there a train/lrt/subway system that would work? Hoping to stay close to the airport.

I hear the Toronto has a new fangled thing called a subway. Depending on where your hotel is, getting to the subway should be easy enough, might need to take a bus or two. Your hotel should be able to help.

Yeah, I know they have one. Just wondering if it's fairly direct from the airport to the stadium. If it's 8 bus transfers and 3 subway lines, I won't stay near the airport.

When I am in Toronto, I usually stay with my grandma, she lives 10 minutes from the airport. From there it is, a 10 minute drive in the car to a parking lot, then 2 subway trains to the Skydome. If you are renting a car that might be something worth looking into.

Subway goes right to Union Station and there is a clearly marked "skywalk" to get to Rogers Centre Skydome.

I get on at Kipling, from there its pretty quick to Spadina, then to quick train change to Union Station. You can walk a around downtown to get something to eat before taking the above mentioned skywalk.
